South Africa Playing 11 vs Australia – ICC World Cup 2023, Match 10. South Africa takes on Australia in Lucknow on October 12, Thursday in their second game of the World Cup. This is the second game for Australia as well and the first of five ICC World Cup 2023 games in Lucknow.
South Africa are heading into this match after their emphatic win over Sri Lanka in their campaign opener. Three of their batters scored centuries as they posted the highest World Cup score at 428/5 and broke all sorts of batting records in the process.
They will now head to Lucknow where they will be playing at a completely different surface than what they got in Delhi. This surface offers much more turn than the Kotla and that is where the South African batters need to adapt themselves.
The side gave a glimpse of their ability in the very first match of their campaign. Their batting was a statement sent out to other teams as to what they can expect from the Proteas. However, they need to adapt to the changing surfaces across different venues and Lucknow poses a different kind of challenge.

A total of 48 games will take place among 10 teams during ICC World Cup 2023 across 10 venues around India. The top four teams will make the semi-finals with the final to be played on November 19.
Against Australia, South Africa have a good record in ODIs, winning 54 out of the 108 matches played. In World Cups, they have won two out of the six matches played against each other. Against Australis, they need to bring in an additional spinner in Tabraiz Shamsi in place of a seamer. The Proteas will continue to miss Anrich Nortje who is ruled out with a lower back stress fracture.

Quinton de Kock
De Kock will open the batting for South Africa. He scored a hundred in the very first game of the tournament. The keeper-batter will be retiring from ODI cricket after the end of the World Cup and only play T20Is.
Temba Bavuma (C)
Bavuma will lead the side. He scored just 8 against Sri Lanka and will look to score more runs against Australia. He recently scored a magnificent century in the ODI series against Australia.
Rassie Van der Dussen
Dussen will bat at three. He scored 108 off 110 balls against Sri Lanka. The previous game was his 50th ODI for South Africa. He is playing his second ODI World Cup and was a part of the 2019 squad.
Aiden Markram
Markram will bat at four. He broke the record for scoring the fastest ton in a World Cup in just 47 balls. Overall, he scored 106 off 54 balls. He can also bowl his useful off-spin.
Heinrich Klaasen (WK)
Klaasen can slot in at five. He scored 32 off 230 balls in the last game. He is one of the batters to watch out for in this World Cup. He is in good form in recent times and is someone who plays spin really well.
David Miller
Miller will bat at six. He scored 39 off 21 balls and played his part in taking South Africa to that mammoth score. He is one of the experienced batters in the lineup and can hit big against spinners.
Marco Jansen
Jansen will bat at seven. He can swing the ball upfront with the new ball and score crucial runs down the order. He had an expensive spell with the ball against Sri Lanka. It will be interesting to see if he is still kept in the XI against Australia.
Kagiso Rabada
Kagiso Rabada will lead the pace attack for South Africa. He picked up 2/50 in his spell against Sri Lanka in Delhi. He has picked 13 wickets in his World Cup career so far. He is one of the premier pacers playing in this World Cup.
Lungi Ngidi
Ngidi should partner with Rabada from the other end. He picked up 1 for 49 against Sri Lanka and was the best of the lot. He has good changeups and slower deliveries up his sleeve which he might use in the Lucknow track.
Keshav Maharaj
Maharaj will be one of the two spinners South Africa should play in the XI. He was expensive in the last match but will be key on the Lucknow track. He picked up 2/62 against Sri Lanka.
Tabraiz Shamsi
Tabraiz Shamsi the leggie will conclude the likely lineup for South Africa in their match against Australia. He will replace Gerald Coetzee in the lineup. Shamsi did not play the match against Sri Lanka.
