South Africa will be eyeing a winning start to their campaign in the ongoing ODI tri-series when they take on New Zealand. It will be the second game of the ongoing series. The game is scheduled to be played on Monday (February 10) at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

The Proteas will have their task cut out in the game as they will be without most of their big names. The likes of Marco Jansen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs, and Rassie van der Dussen have been selected for the ICC Champions Trophy but will join the team in Pakistan only on February 14.

Even the likes of Heinrich Klaasen and Keshav Maharaj won't be available for the game against New Zealand. So as South Africa looks to beat New Zealand with a depleted squad, we are taking a look at the South Africa Playing 11 for the upcoming game.

South Africa Playing 11 vs New Zealand - 2nd ODI, Pakistan ODI Tri-Series 2025:

Openers: Temba Bavuma, Matthew Breetzke

Temba Bavuma is set to have a new opening partner for the upcoming game. Uncapped Matthew Breetzke is likely to be named in the South Africa Playing 11 as an opener for the upcoming contest. While Breetzke has already played 1 Test and 10 T20Is for the Proteas, he is yet to represent them in the 50-over format.

Breetzke did not have the best of outings with the bat in SA20 and will look to bounce back in the upcoming game. The onus will be on captain Bavuma to deliver with the bat and give his side a good start. He starred with the bat during the home Test series against South Africa and Pakistan a few weeks ago and will be keen to lead his team from the front.

Middle-order batsmen and allrounders: Jason Smith, Meeka-eel Prince, Kyle Verreynne, Wiaan Mulder, Senuran Muthusamy

South Africa are set to have a new look in middle-order for the upcoming game as they are without most of their first-choice players. Jason Smith and uncapped Meeka-eel Prince are set to be a part of the South Africa Playing 11 for the game.

Smith made his ODI debut last year and has played two games so far. He was out for a duck on his debut before scoring 91 runs in his second game against Ireland. On the other hand, Prince has yet to play for South Africa in any of the three formats. So far, he has played 11 List-A games and has scored 414 runs with the help of a century and a fifty.

With Klaasen not available, Kyle Verreynne is set to keep the wickets for the African outfit. He has played 17 ODIs so far and has scored 488 runs with the help of five fifties.

Wiaan Mulder and Senuran Muthusamy are expected to be the all-rounders in the South Africa Playing 11. Mulder has played 20 games so far and has scored 190 runs in addition to taking 14 wickets. On the other hand, Muthusamy has yet to play an ODI but has played 4 Tests.

Bowlers: Tabraiz Shamsi, Lungi Ngidi, Junio Dala, Gideon Peters

South Africa are expected to play the game with three frontline pacers and one spinner. Lungi Ngidi, Junio Dala, and Gideon Peters are expected to be the three pacers in the South Africa Playing 11 while Tabraiz Shamsi is set to lead the spin attack for his team.
