South Africa will be facing New Zealand in the second semifinal of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The game is scheduled to be played on Wednesday (March 5) at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

The Proteas finished the group stage at the top of the points table and will be eyeing another win to book their place in the final. South Africa started their campaign with a win over Afghanistan before their game against Australia was washed out.

In their last group game, South Africa defeated England. As South Africa gears up for the semifinal, we are taking a look at the South Africa Playing 11.

South Africa Playing 11 vs New Zealand- ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Semifinal 2:

Openers: Ryan Rickelton, Temba Bavuma (c)

Ryan Rickelton and Temba Bavuma are expected to be the openers in the South Africa Playing 11 for the upcoming semifinal. Captain Bavuma missed the game against England due to an illness and is expected to be fit for the forthcoming contest.

Before missing the game against England, Bavuma had impressed with the bat against Afghanistan, scoring 58 runs. In his absence, Tristan Stubbs had opened the innings but could not impress as he was out for a duck.

After scoring a fine century in the first game against Afghanistan, Rickelton failed to score big against England. The left-handed batsman got the start but could not capitalise on it as he departed for 27 runs. He has been in good touch in recent times and will be eyeing a big score in the semifinals.

Middle-order batsmen and allrounders: Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), David Miller, Wiaan Mulder, Marco Jansen

South Africa made a change in their middle-order for the game against England and they are likely to retain the same combination for the semifinal as well. Tony de Zorzi missed the game against England due to illness and was replaced by Heinrich Klaasen.

Klaasen had missed the game against England due to a niggle and returned to the South Africa Playing 11 in style. He scored 64 runs off 56 balls in his comeback game and will be eyeing another good knock.

Rassie van der Dussen impressed with the bat once again as he scored his second fifty in as many games. The right-handed batsman remained unbeaten on 72. Aiden Markram, who was leading the team in Bavuma's absence, did not get the chance to bat. Earlier against England, Markram had scored a fifty.

David Miller remained unbeaten on 7 runs in his last outing. Wiaan Mulder and Marco Jansen are set to be the two openers in the South Africa Playing 11. Jansen blew away England's top-order by picking up three wickets inside the powerplay.

He will be eyeing another impactful outing as South Africa eye a spot in the final. On the other hand, Mulder impressed with the ball as well, taking 3 wickets for 25 runs.

Bowlers: Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi

South Africa are expected to retain the same bowling lineup that played against England. The South Africa Playing 11 is set to have two frontline pacers and one spinner. Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi are set to be the two pacers while Keshav Maharaj will be the lead spinner.

Maharaj picked up 2 wickets against England while Rabada and Ngidi claimed 1 wicket each.
