Sunrisers Hyderabad have come under the pump since the last two games in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. They have faced two back-to-back losses and now have been pushed back to the fourth spot in the points table of the tournament with 5 wins under their belt. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad faced a 78-run thumping at the hands of Chennai Super Kings in the 46th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The game between the two teams took place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday (28th April). 

Sunrisers Hyderabad didn't have a great outing with the ball as they ended up conceding 212 runs on the board. Their bowlers struggled big time with the ball and failed to put the opposition under pressure at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. 

Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (98) played a magnificent innings while Daryl Mitchell (52) and Shivam Dube (39*) supported him we as they posted a big total of 212 runs on the board. For Sunrisers Hyderabad, every bowler had an economy of over 9. 

With the bat, it was a horrible display from their end. None of the batters could reach the 50-run mark, which speaks a lot about their batting performance. Travis Head (13) and Abhishek Sharma (15) started aggressively but couldn't carry on after that. 

Aiden Markram (32) was the top run-getter for the team whereas the rest of the batters failed to get past the 20-run mark. Heinrich Klaasen (20) also couldn't get going as Chennai Super Kings bowlers were all over the batters and sealed the game by a big margin. 

Tushar Deshpande picked four wickets whereas Matheesha Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman claimed two wickets. Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur also chipped in as Chennai Super Kings bundled out Sunrisers Hyderabad for 134 runs to win the game by 78 runs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad after the loss against Chennai Super Kings slipped to No.4 in the points table. They have managed 5 wins and 4 defeats so far in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The loss against CSK hampered their NRR a bit but they have a healthy rate of +0.075 

Even after the big loss against in the Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad are very much in contention to make it into the playoffs. They are one of the favourites to seal the spot but for they need to ensure that they win at least 3 out of their remaining 5 games in the tournament as it will take them to 16 points, which potentially is a quaflying mark.

Even if they win 2 out of their 5 games they will be in the race but they need to make sure they win two games by big margins to up their NRR. They cannot afford to lose 4 games as it would mean curtains for them in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
