Sri Lanka Cricket launches new tournament!! IPL future in threat?

Sri Lanka will host its inaugural men's T10 tournament from December 12 to 22, as announced by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). The T10 tournament is scheduled to take place over 11 days between the end of the second Test in South Africa and the start of a white-ball series in New Zealand later in December.
SLC is collaborating with T Ten Sports Management, T Ten Global Sports, and Innovative Production Group to host the inaugural Lanka T10 Super League in December. Teams can select emerging players from Zimbabwe and the West Indies, where T Ten Global Sports is also running ventures.
A player draft is set to take place for the league on November 10 in Colombo. Six franchises will be part of the upcoming T10 tournament. Each franchise is required to sign six players, including one Icon player, one Platinum player, and one Category A and B player, both from Sri Lanka and overseas.

SLC President Shammi Silva is confident that the inaugural draft for the Lanka T10 Super League will create an exciting tournament. Silva believes it will enhance the Lankan cricket calendar and provide a fresh experience for both players and fans.
"I am confident that the first-ever draft of the Lanka T10 Super League is going to set the platform for an exciting and entertaining tournament, which will add color to the Sri Lankan cricketing calendar and bring in a new experience to our players and fans, alike," Shammi Silva said in the release.

Nawab Shaji Ul Mulk, Founder and Chairman of T Ten Global Sports, said that the draft for the inaugural Lanka T10 Super League is a major step in promoting T10 cricket in Lanka. He expressed excitement for a thrilling tournament that will enhance Lanka's presence in the global cricket scene.

Samantha Dodanwela, the Tournament Director of the Lanka T10 Super League, stated that the new league will help push the game to new boundaries in Lanka. Samantha said that it would attract a fresh audience interested in fast-paced entertainment and keep fans engaged throughout the matches.
"Cricket needs to evolve, and the Lanka T10 Super League is certainly going to help push the game to new boundaries in our country, thus bringing in a new wave of fans who like to be always involved in fast-paced sports and get entertained every moment," Dodanwela said.
