The Sri Lankan team could have a tough time than expected against India in the limited-overs leg. India and Sri Lanka will clash in three ODIs and as many T20Is from the 13th of July in Colombo. But it seems like the home side will face their neighbours without any match practice as their quarantine ends on the 12th.

Despite being the hosts, Sri Lanka might not get a practice session ahead of the six limited-overs games as the players are in quarantine currently. With their quarantine period ending on the 12th and the series commencing the very next day, players would have no time to adjust to the conditions.

Sri Lanka, who returned from an abysmal and winless tour of England, have to remain in isolation for seven days. The first three days would be the most challenging to pass as movement outside the hotel rooms is disallowed. From the fourth day, the cricketers can use the gym and pool.

Sri Lanka chief selector Pramodya Wickramasinghe underlined that as they live in such tough times, needing to follow the protocols directed by the authorities, they can’t help the situation. While Wickramasinghe announced that the players set to get the nod are unlikely to get practice sessions, he felt relieved that no player tested positive for COVID-19 on the first go.

“We can’t help the situation. These are the kind of times we are living in, team will have to follow all health protocols as directed by the authorities. Yes it is correct the players who will be selected from the squad who were in England are unlikely to get net session before 1st game against India. The good part is none of them have tested positive in the 1st test,” Wickramasinghe said as per Times Now.
