Former Australian cricketer Shane Lee has stated that Steve Smith, who has been in the news for all the wrong reasons, recently, is not a cheat. Shane Lee has made it clear that Smith wasn’t trying anything such as pitch scuffing or was trying to cheat. However, he has maintained that Smith shouldn’t have been near the batting crease.

The veteran Australian batsman was seen scuffing the pitch during the final day of the third Test between Australia and India. Cricketing legends, past and present, have fired shots at him for his poor act. However, the Australian cricketing fraternity has backed him after the incident.

“It is disturbing…I m seeing the same signs as before Sandpapergate. I am seeing someone like Smith who is getting really, really angry,”
Notably, Smith was banned by Cricket Australia (CA) in 2018 for a year for his involvement in the infamous Sandpapergate scandal and he was the skipper of the Australian Cricket Team across all formats when he was banned.
