The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is off to a cracker as we witnessed Namibia pick up a sensational Super Over win against Oman in the first Group B match.

Yesterday we had seen two differently poised games in the World Cup at USA and West Indies and Day 2 equally lived up to the occasion. While the USA chased down a huge total against Canada, the West Indies completed a tricky run chase at the Guyana National Stadium.

Today at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, Namibia, and Oman played this T20 WC's first Super Over and it will be fair to say that it has already become a fan favorite. Namibian captain Gerhard Erasmus had won the toss and asked Omani captain Aqib Ilyas to bat first in what proved to be another slow surface.

In the first 6 overs, Erasmus' men made the most out of the game as Ruben Trumpelmann picked up 2 wickets in the first over and then picked up the the 3rd in the 3rd over. The middle order of number 4 Zeeshan Maqsood and number 5 Khalid Kali tried to steady Oman's ship but they got out fot 22 and 34 with the remaining batters adding just 43 runs.

In response, Namibia started off similarly Michael van Lingen was dismissed for a duck in the 2nd ball of the 2nd innings. His partner Niko Davin paired with Jan Frylinck for a 42-run partnership before David fell for 24 off 31. Skipper Erasmus came in and left for 13 with JJ Smit, David Wiese, Zane Green and Malan Kruger scoring 8, 9, 0 and 1 respectively.

The game got tied and David Wiese went out with Gerhard Erasmus to bat first in the Super Over and scored 21 runs with Wiese smashing 13 off 4 and Erasmus scoring 8 off 2. Oman then lost their first wicket in the 3 ball with their captain scoring 7 off 2 and Naseem Khushu and Maqsood scoring 2 and 1.
