India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma has lavished rich praise on the star right-arm pacer Mohammed Siraj. He said that the pacer is a superb athlete and gives it all on the field for his team.

Mohammed Siraj is one of the best speedsters in India currently and he forms a deadly pace-trio with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. Siraj is a permanent member of the team across formats and has delivered some unbelievable performances for the side.

Overall, the 30-year-old has represented India in 29 Tests, 44 ODIs and 16 T20Is, picking 78, 71 and 14 wickets respectively. He was recently seen in action in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh where he bagged four wickets and played a key role in India's 2-0 win.

Rohit Sharma hails India's fielding

Speaking after winning the series in a video posted by BCCI, captain Rohit Sharma lauded the fielding effort of his players in the two-match series. Rohit Sharma elaborated:

"It may go unnoticed, but I was just informed out of the 24 catches that came our way, we took 23 of them. Which is a great result, you know, especially in the slips. You don't often see in India a ball carrying through the slips, but the guys who were standing behind were so sharp.

"And to take those catches, it may look easy on television, but it is not. Trust me, because they are standing way ahead than they normally do. So all those catches that come their way, they are very hard to take those catches. The reaction time is very less and I have seen it, everyone puts a lot of effort in getting those things right."

He is a superb athlete, gives it everything on the field that he has - Mohammed Siraj hailed by Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma hailed fielding coach T Dilip for helping the players improve their fielding and then spoke about Mohammed Siraj's game-changing one-handed stunner to dismiss Shakib Al Hasan in the Kanpur Test.

The Indian skipper said that Siraj believes in giving it all on the field and he tries numerous things to get the job done for the team even on flat pitches. Rohit Sharma elaborated:

"And Dilip obviously is helping with the players. Some crucial catches as well, which actually turned the game around and we saw Siraj. Siraj is a great athlete. He is a superb athlete, gives it everything on the field that he has. Even when he is bowling on a flat pitch, it's not much happening, he wants to do something. He wants to just talk to the batter, make him slightly uncomfortable, so that he gets into the game, the team gets into the game.

"And that is something that he believes in and we have seen it over the years. Now, it's been happening for so many years now."

Obviously, there are players around me who are open to giving suggestions - Rohit Sharma

While talking about his leadership, Rohit Sharma said that after playing for a long period of time he has gained a plethora of experience and has belief in his judgments. Rohit Sharma elaborated:

"I think when you are playing at such a high level, you need to have a bit of everything. You need to be calm, to think wisely. There are a lot of decisions that you have to take on the field. Not every decision will go your way, but you have to back it and use your experience, use your knowledge.

"So that is what I do. I have been there enough to trust my judgment that I do take on the field, the decisions that I take on the field. I trust on it and then I go by it. Obviously, there are players around me who are open to giving suggestions. But at the end of the day, I think I trust my mind and I trust my judgment and that's all that matters."
