Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw Remain in Quarantine While Team India Take Off for London Test; Sourav Ganguly To Be Present at Lord’s

After the first Test between England and India finished in a draw, Team India left for London to prepare for the second Test which is being played at the iconic Lord’s. Back-up options Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav, however, had to stay back in Nottingham as they’re yet to finish their quarantine after arriving in the UK. The Indian squad left for London at around 11 am local time after they tested negative in their RT-PCR tests.
Meanwhile, Shaw and Suryakumar arrived in the UK on August 3. They will continue to serve the 10-day quarantine till August 13 after which they will be allowed to train. The duo will be available for selection from the third Test onwards which is starting at Leeds on August 25.

Luckily for them, things worked out in their favor as there is a 9-day gap between the end of the second Test and the start of the third. As a result, if the team management feels the need to play either of them, Surya and Shaw can go in fully prepared.
BCCI President Sourav Ganguly will attend the Lord’s Test to watch Team India in action

The United Kingdom recently (August 8) slotted India from the red list into the amber list. As a result, Sourav Ganguly decided to depart for London on Tuesday and attend the Lord’s Test which will start on Thursday. UK’s protocol states that fully vaccinated people need not serve the mandatory 10-day quarantine period.
“For any of the office bearers, it was very difficult with a 10-day quarantine in place as everyone’s busy schedule goes for a toss. Since some of the travel protocols have been relaxed, especially the quarantine, our office bearers, if they want, can now attend,” an anonymous source stated.
Notably, BCCI secretary Jay Shah, treasurer Arun Dhumal, and vice-president Rajiv Shukla are also likely to travel to the country in the next few days to watch the Indian team play against England.
