India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav is not only a dashing batter but a useful bowler as well. His abilities with the ball were on show in the last T20I that India played, against Sri Lanka at Pallekele.

In that game, Suryakumar Yadav bowled the last over of the match with the hosts Sri Lanka needing just 6 runs to win. Surprisingly, the 34-year-old successfully defended the runs as the match went to a tie. Later, India won the Super Over and clinched the series 3-0.

But will Suryakumar Yadav bowl again in the upcoming series against Bangladesh? it is a big question. But the man himself gave a light-hearted reply to that question and also revealed why he chose to bowl in the T20I against Sri Lanka.

Suryakumar Yadav to bowl in the T20Is vs Bangladesh?

While speaking on the eve of the first T20I between India and Bangladesh at Gwalior, Suryakumar Yadav himself revealed whether he would come on to bowl again in this series or not. He hoped that the situation would not come to that point to make him bowl.

The India captain also revealed why he brought himself into the attack against Sri Lanka despite some of the overs left of the frontline bowlers.

"Hopefully, it won't come to that (smiles). But yeah, we enjoyed it. We were 2-0 up in the series, but at the same time, we thought let's do something different. We had a few overs left of the fast bowlers, but I wanted to do something different at that moment because the wicket was turning. Just took a chance and it worked really well." Suryakumar said.

"It gives you options" - Suryakumar Yadav on batters bowling few overs

India's captain also spoke about the importance of batters sending down a few overs in between. Surya feels that there are plenty of players in the team currently who can bowl some overs along with their batting. He gave the example of Riyan Parag as a batter who can bowl.

"It's good if batters can send down one or two overs. In this squad, I think there is hardly anyone who doesn't bowl a little. It gives you options. As you saw in Sri Lanka, Riyan (Parag) bowled four overs. If someone has the skills to bowl in a pressure situation, then this is the platform,” Suryakumar said.

What happened when Suryakumar Yadav bowled last time?

In the final T20I between, India scored 137-9 in 20 overs. Needing 138 to win, Sri Lanka had a brilliant start and were 110-1 at one stage. The situation was under control for the home team even in the last two overs when they needed 9 of 12 with 6 wickets in hand.

Surprisingly, Rinku Singh bowled the penultimate over and picked up two wickets for three runs. Suryakumar completed the formalities by bowling another excellent over. He also picked up two wickets in the over.

In the Super Over, Sri Lanka lost both their wickets for just 2 runs. Fittingly, Suryakumar Yadav hit the winning runs for India by smashing the first ball of the Super Over for a boundary.
