India National Cricket Team T20I skipper, Suryakumar Yadav, has refused to admit that he is out of form despite his horror show in the format in the year 2025.
Suryakumar Yadav came up with a bizarre excuse for his back-to-back failures in T20I cricket as the Indian skipper said that he is just out of runs.
Suryakumar Yadav's 2025 miserable show in numbers
Since becoming the India T20I skipper, Suryakumar has lost his touch as a batter - at least in international cricket, as in the Indian Premier League (IPL), he has been scoring consistently.
In 2025, Suryakumar has endured his worst phase as a batter since making his debut for Team India. The former World No.1 batsman has scored just 213 in 18 matches, with the best score of 47*.
His runs have come at an average of 14.20 and a strike rate of 125.29, with three ducks. The right-handed batter has been absolutely awful against the pacers in 2025 and has scored just 122 runs in 18 innings at an average of 8.71 and a strike rate of 115.09, with 14 dismissals.
Lowest batting average as captain in a T20I calendar year (min 200 runs):
12.52 - Clinton Rubagumya (Rwanda, 2022)
14.20 - Suryakumar Yadav (IND, 2025)
15.56 - Aiden Markram (SA, 2024)
15.66 - Clinton Rubagumya (Rwanda, 2023)
15.92 - Yasim Murtaza (HKC, 2025)
I think this sport teaches you a lot of things - Suryakumar Yadav
Speaking after India's victory over South Africa in the third T20I, Suryakumar Yadav stated that sport teaches him a lot of things, and he was happy with the way the team was able to bounce back. He stated:
"I think this sport teaches you a lot of things. How you come back into the series is more important. And we did the same thing, we wanted to go back to basics, do the same things we were doing in Cuttack, and the results were on our side.
"See, there was a lot of learning from the game we played in Chandigarh. The bowlers sat together, we had a good team meeting as well. We came for practice sessions and tried to do the same things we did in Cuttack. We went back to basics. We didn’t try to do a lot of different things, but I think basics were very important at that time."
The thing is, I’ve been batting beautifully in the nets - Suryakumar Yadav
When he was asked to address his poor form, Suryakumar came up with a bizarre statement, saying that he has been batting beautifully in the nets.
To make things worse, the Indian skipper added that he is not out of form and runs will come from his bat very soon. He explained:
"(On his form) The thing is, I’ve been batting beautifully in the nets. I’m trying everything that’s in my control. And when the game comes, when the runs have to come, they’ll definitely come.
"But yes, I’m looking for runs, not out of form, but definitely out of runs. I think we’ll enjoy it tonight. We’ll enjoy the win tonight. We’ll sit down tomorrow when we reach Lucknow and then see what happened in this game and talk about that."
