Suryakumar Yadav’s heartfelt tribute!! Donates Asia Cup match fees to Armed Forces & Pahalgam terror attack victims

Dubai International Cricket Stadium has witnessed more than just India’s thrilling five-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final, but also saw Suryakumar Yadav take a powerful stand off the field as well on Sunday, September 28.

After winning the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan, Suryakumar Yadav announced that he would donate his match fees from all the games in the tournament to the Indian armed forces and the families affected by the Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year in April.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, the Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav said he wanted to support the brave soldiers and extend help to the victims of the tragic terror attacks in Pahalgam.

Suryakumar Yadav told media at the presser, “I want to give my match fees from all the games that I have played in this tournament to the Indian Army.”

Later, Suryakumar Yadav confirmed the move on his social media handle as well. He posted, X: “I have decided to donate my match fees from this tournament to support our Armed Forces and the families of the victims. You always remain in my thoughts.”

India's T20I players earn ₹4 lakh for each match they play. With seven matches in the Asia Cup 2025, Suryakumar will donate all his match fees, and that would be ₹28 lakh, to the Indian armed forces and the Pahalgam terror attack victims.

Notably, the Asia Cup 2025 was the first time India faced Pakistan on the field since the Pahalgam attack, which had triggered India’s retaliatory military action—Operation Sindoor—across the border in May. The Men in Blue dominated all three encounters against their archrivals.

Suryakumar stood tall against Pakistan throughout the tournament, refusing to shake hands with Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha in all three matches, including the final on Sunday. After India’s first group-stage win over Pakistan, he had dedicated the victory to the Indian armed forces and expressed solidarity with the families affected by the Pahalgam terror attack.

For his move, the Indian captain also faced a fine but won hearts back home. With his gestures, Suryakumar has sent a strong message of patriotism and support for the nation’s heroes.

India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 Final

Speaking about the match, India opted to bowl first after winning the toss. Pakistan got a strong start thanks to an 84-run partnership between Sahibzada Farhan (57 off 38 balls) and Fakhar Zaman (46 off 35 balls). Fakhar and Farhan looked set to take Pakistan to a commanding total.

But the Indian spinners turned the game on its head. Kuldeep Yadav (4/30) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/30) triggered a dramatic collapse. Jasprit Bumrah finished the job with two quick wickets, reducing Pakistan from 113/1 in 12.4 overs to 146 all out in 19.1 overs.

However, the Men in Blue had a poor start, slipping to 20/3 thanks to the fiery bowling of Faheem Ashraf (3/29). But a brilliant 57-run partnership between Tilak Varma (69* off 53 balls) and Sanju Samson (24 off 21 balls) brought India back into contention in Dubai.

Later, Shivam Dube (33 off 22 balls) joined Tilak to dominate the game. The match ended in a fairytale moment for Rinku Singh, who hit the winning runs on the very first ball, as India won the final by five wickets to lift the Asia Cup for the record ninth time.
