Former New Zealand batsman Scott Styris picked Australia to be the favourite for the finals considering the loss of Devon Conway for the T20 World cup 2021. Both, Australia and New Zealand haven’t won a T20 World cup title so far, and this will be the best time to rewrite history.

They have crossed over the hurdles of England and Pakistan, who were deemed favourites in the semi-finals, and it will be an interesting battle in the final. Australia has a brilliant record in ICC tournament knock-out stages, and their record against New Zealand is also astonishing.

Scott Styris Picks Australia To Be The Favorite

Scott Styris voted for Australia to start as the favourites for the finals, considering the loss of injured Devon Conway. He explained Conway had a major role to play in the middle order against the spin bowling and noted that Glenn Phillips will need a big game to prove his worth in the side.

“Conway is a massive loss. Australia is favourite, and rightly so with no Conway there. He is an intelligent cricketer and of high quality. He doesn’t normally bat four, but they like him in the middle order with all his skills against spin in particular.”

“So now how does New Zealand cope against Adam Zampa, who has been brilliant? Glenn Phillips needs a big game. Phillips is also a keeper, so there aren’t any wicketkeeper issues,” Scott Styris told on Sportstar.

Scott Styris Feels Glenn Maxwell Can Get On A Roll

Scott Styris mentioned that one of the battles to watch out for will be Maxwell against the spin bowling of Ish Sodhi and Santner. He added that Maxwell, despite being a match-winner, can get out cheaply as well and hoped that New Zealand can get rid of him with minimal damage.

“Santner/Ish Sodhi vs Glenn Maxwell. Maxwell can get on a roll. You take away a lot of the Aussie middle over scoring blitz if you can get rid of Maxwell. Getting your fields right is one key. The other is hoping Maxwell takes silly options, which he has done plenty of times in the IPL. But his match-winning abilities have never been in doubt,” he added.
