Tamil Nadu Twins Baba Aparajith And Baba Indrajith Create Unique Record By Smashing Tons In Ranji Trophy 2022

Tamil Nadu twins Baba Aparajith and Baba Indrajith have created a unique record by smashing centuries in Ranji Trophy 2022 against Chhattisgarh.

On Thursday, Baba Aparajith and Baba Indrajith became the first set of the first Indian twins to smash hundreds in the same first-class match for the same team. The century was Aparajith’s 10th first-class century and Indrajith’s 11th first-class hundred. Indrajith was able to smash 127 runs and Aparajith was able to smash unbeaten 101 runs.

At the end of Day 1 of the clash between Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu were able to score 308 runs at the loss of 4 wickets.

Notably, this is not the first time Indrajith and Aparajith have scored centuries in the same match and they have previously done that, however, their centuries came while playing for different teams. Indrajith was representing India Green and Aparajith was representing India Red in a Duleep Trophy match.

Batting with each other has always been fun – Baba Indrajith

Speaking to TOI, Baba Indrajith said that batting with Aparajith has always been fun for him since his early days in cricket. He added that scoring centuries together for Tamil Nadu in the same match is a “truly special feeling”.

“Batting with each other has always been fun right from the time we took up the sport as kids. We root for each other always. While the last time we scored hundreds in a match –it was for different teams –but doing so in the same match and that too for Tamil Nadu is a truly special feeling altogether,” Indrajith told TOI.

Meanwhile, Aparajith lauded Indrajith and said that he was striking the ball so fluently. He added that his idea was to settle down before playing strokes as the wicket was on the slower side.

“He was striking the ball so fluently and I didn’t want to do anything silly. With the wicket on the slower side, the idea was to settle down before playing my shots,” Aparajith said.
