In the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League 2022, the left-handed batsman slammed 2 consecutive half-centuries for his team Minister Dhaka in their opening two matches. With ICC T20I World Cup 2022 set to take place in October this year, all teams are developing their squad for the tournament.

I Don’t Want To Play This Format: Tamim Iqbal
While speaking to the press on Saturday, Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan said that he had a chat with Tamim Iqbal over his return to the national side for T20Is. Hasan revealed that the 32-year-old player said that he doesn’t want to play that format.
“Tamim has played well and he is always good. When I spoke with him last time you can say I requested him to make a return into T20Is. I have spoken with him on telephone and he just said ‘please don’t push me because if you push me naturally I will have to return but I don’t want to play in this format’. After listening to this I felt there is no point asking him (to reconsider his decision) because if someone does not want to play any format there is no point forcing him to play,” Nazmul Hasan said.
Tamim Iqbal last played a T20I game against Zimbabwe in March 2020. Due to injuries, he did not play many T20I series as well the as T20 World Cup 2021. In 78 T20I games so far, he accounts for 1758 runs at an average of 24.08 with 1 century and 7 half-centuries.
With a better show than West Indies in ICC T20 World Cup 2021, Bangladesh has managed to qualify for the super 12 round of T20 World Cup 2022. Bangladesh is part of group 1 and has teams like Australia, New Zealand, and Afghanistan in their pool. During the super 12 round, Bangladesh will play 5 matches against their group members.
