That Photo Speaks A Lot About The Sporting World And What Sport Can Do - Ajaz Patel On Photo Featuring The Ravindras And Patels

New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel has explained the origins of the ‘shirts photo’ featuring the Ravindras (India’s Ravindra Jadeja and New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra) and the Patels ( Indian Axar Patel and New Zealand’s Ajaz Patel).

After India’s Test victory against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai the BCCI posted an amazing photo on Twitter featuring Ravindras and Patels.

Meanwhile, Ajaz Patel talking about the photo has said that sports can bring people together and it was special to take a picture like that. He said:

“That photo speaks a lot about the sporting world and you know, what sport can do. Sport has the ability to bring people together and not only here but around the world. It was special to be able to take a photo like that. Obviously, there is a fierce rivalry on the field but off the field, it’s a gentleman sport and everyone adds value to each other’s games.”

It Was Awesome To Connect With Some Of Those Guys Who Play Locally In India – Ajaz Patel

New Zealand Spinner Patel further added that it was awesome to connect with the Indian players and the conversation he had with them was special. He said:

“It was awesome to connect with some of those guys who play locally in India and know the conditions really well. So, the conversation with them is quite special.”

” The beauty of that photo came about through a few wise guys; our media guys back home and here and also myself and a few of the Indian guys. A lot of us thought on the same page and thought it would be a pretty cool photo,” he added.

Although New Zealand lost the series and the match it was the most memorable day for Mumbai-born New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel as he created history in the Mumbai Test match against India by becoming only the third bowler in 144 years of the history of Test cricket to bag 10 wickets in an innings. Before Ajaz, the two other bowlers to pick 10 wickets in Test innings were Jim Laker and Anil Kumble.
