Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed his first double century in Test cricket and it came during the morning session of the second day’s play in the second Test at Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium. Jaiswal started on 179 at the start of the second day’s play and cruised to his double century in some style. He has now become the third youngest Indian to score a double ton in Test cricket. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been brilliant with the bat in this series as of now and the fans are already hailing him as the next superstar.
India is cruising towards 400 and Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored more than 50% of the team’s run as of now. No other Indian batter has crossed even 50 runs while Yashasvi Jaiswal created history by scoring a double-century. He also became the first Indian batter to get a double hundred in Tests since 2020. The last double hundred for India in Test cricket came back in 2019 when Rohit Sharma scored 212 against South Africa. Since then India has played 36 Test matches and this is the first time in 36 matches that a batter has crossed 200 for India.
Yashasvi Jaiswal got to his double century in style as he hit a six and a four while he was on 191 and got to 201 in 277 deliveries. An inning which comprised 18 fours and seven sixes and he batted at a strike rate of 72. The Fans have expressed their delight at Yashasvi’s double ton and they are hailing him as India’s next superstar. He made his Test debut against West Indies in Dominica and smashed a century on his Test debut scoring 171 in the first Test he played.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is still going strong and is unbeaten, playing against the English bowling line-up. He has targeted the young spinner Shoaib Bashir and has played a brilliant innings in the second Test. He also scored 80 off 74 balls in the first innings of the Hyderabad Test.
