Australian batter Travis Head enjoyed a significant surge in his career last year. However, Head admitted that it is challenging to maintain that level, considering the demanding nature of the game.

Now, his primary focus is to give his best shot at the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in 2024. Notably, Head's impactful centuries helped Australia win the finals of the ICC World Test Championship and ODI World Cup against India last year.

Well, Head is now determined to elevate his game further to help his team win the T20 World Cup 2024. He said that he is utilizing the ongoing IPL 2024 as a platform to hone his skills and prepare himself for the mega event. Head is representing the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing IPL 2024 under his Australian captain Pat Cummins’ captaincy.

I’ve come a long way as a player: Travis Head

Travis Head was quoted as saying by PTI: “I’ve come a long way as a player. I guess owning a little bit of the style I want to play and the way I have played overseas too, I’ve been able to tick a few boxes. Now, the pressure is to continue to play the way I am playing. I think in all formats, I need to make sure that I go back to what simplifies everything, which is my technique and my blueprint.”

Meanwhile, Head has displayed his versatility while representing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing IPL 2024. Head, playing as an opener for SRH, has so far amassed 133 runs from five matches at a strike rate of 177.

Expressing his aspirations for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, Head highlighted the significance of his IPL 2024 stint with SRH in preparing him for the mega event. He wants to get some runs under his belt and form ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and USA.

He added, “I think it is important for me to make sure that I’m mentally fresh throughout the IPL and continuing to work on my game, and making sure that I am ready for the World Cup when that time comes. But I am feeling like I am prepared and ready at the moment.”

We want to be aggressive: Travis Head

Head also noted that he has now a better understanding of his game. He mentioned that experienced various emotions upon returning and now he is not getting overly nervous or concerned about outcomes.

Instead, he focuses on ensuring that the strategies and techniques he has developed over the past few years will be effective and that he is fully prepared to perform well for the SRH.

The Australian batter said that SRH wants to play an aggressive brand of cricket and they will continue to follow their template in the ongoing IPL 2024, where they are presently ranked 5th in the point table.

He signed off by saying, “We want to be aggressive and I think we’ve shown that in the first five games. It suited me as well. I feel, at the moment, we’re being really aggressive in the right way and the right moments. Obviously, Power Play is very important for us and hopefully Abhishek Sharma and I can continue to do what we’ve been doing in the Power Play.”
