IND vs NZ 2021: Watch - Umesh Yadav Strikes On The Stroke Of Lunch By Dismissing Kane Williamson
Indian pacer Umesh Yadav struck gold right on the stroke of Lunch on Day 3 as he managed to dismiss the New Zealand skipper, Kane Williamson, for 18.
The wicket came at the right time for the hosts as the Kiwis looked set to go into the first break in a comfortable position. Williamson and Tom Latham had weathered the spin onslaught after overnight batsman, Will Young, fell eleven runs short of his century.
Williamson had just three deliveries to negotiate before ending the first session but Umesh, bowling just his second over of the day, managed to get one to nip back in at a serious pace. Williamson failed to account for the movement and was struck plumb in front of the wickets on his front pad.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja kept things tight early on and produced a few chances, including a missing LBW decision. Latham was caught in front of the stumps but the vociferous appeal from Ashwin and co. was shot down by Nitin Menon.
A review was the obvious choice but Ajinkya Rahane opted against it which turned out to be the wrong call. The ball-tracker showed three reds and Latham should have been a goner but it wasn’t to be. He carried on and reached 82, all set to get to his 12th Test century.
At Lunch, New Zealand was 197/2, trailing India by 148 runs in the first innings.
