Updated ICC World Test Championship Points Table After SL vs NZ 1st Test 2024

The ICC World Test Championship Points Table has been on a consecutive move for the 2nd day in a row. The Sri Lanka national cricket team beat the New Zealand national cricket team by 63 runs in the first Test of the two-match Test series in Galle.
Sri Lanka has moved to third place in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 points table, while New Zealand has now slipped to fourth position.
Sri Lanka's spinners successfully defended a target of 275 runs in a hard-fought Test in Galle on Monday, September 23. Rachin Ravindra was a lone warrior in New Zealand's innings.
Rachin scored 92 runs off 168 balls, including nine boundaries and one six, but New Zealand couldn't secure the win.
The home team needed just two wickets to secure victory on the fifth day of the first Test match. Sri Lanka quickly removed the two wickets in just 3.4 overs, with Prabath Jayasuriya taking both. Jayasuriya earned the Player of the Match award for his nine wickets across the two innings.
Updated ICC World Test Championship Points Table Revealed
Sri Lanka secured their fourth win in the ongoing World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle. The Dhananjaya de Silva-led team took their percentage points (PCT) to 50. On the other hand, New Zealand suffered their fourth loss in seven matches. The Black Caps' percentage points decreased to 42.86.
India registered a commanding 280-run victory over Bangladesh in the first Test in Chennai on September 22. Team India remains in the top position in the World Test Championship with a PCT of 71.67. Meanwhile, Bangladesh dropped to sixth place with a PCT of 39.29 after the loss in the series opener.
Defending champions Australia are in second place in the table with a points percentage of 62.50 after 12 Test matches. England and Bangladesh occupy the fifth and sixth positions, respectively, in the WTC table. South Africa, Pakistan, and the West Indies are in the last three places in the standings.

(In the ICC WTC 2023-2025, teams will get 12 points for a win, 4 for a draw, and 6 for a tie. For slow over-rates teams will lose one championship point for each over-short. Teams will be ranked on the percentage of points won.)
The second Test between Sri Lanka and New Zealand is set to commence on September 26. India will lock horns with Bangladesh in the second final Test match in Kanpur starting on September 27.
