USA vs PAK: 'World-class Babar Azam will start T20 World Cup on high note' - Steve Smith makes sensational prediction

Australia cricketer Steve Smith talked about the players to watch for in the upcoming game of the T20 World Cup 2024 between Pakistan and the United States of America (USA). He backed Pakistan skipper Babar Azam along with Aaron Jones to set the stage on fire. 

Pakistan and the United States of America (USA) will be up against each other in the 11th match of the T20 World Cup 2024. The match between the two teams will take place on Thursday (6th June) at the Grand Prairie International Stadium in Texas. 

Pakistan will be entering the clash under pressure because they have been out of form for the last few games. They drew the T20I series against the second-string New Zealand side and then suffered a defeat against Ireland as well. 

Just ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistan clashed with England and it was yet again a disappointing outing for them. They lost the series by the margin of 2-0 and surely there would be a lot of nerves going into the tournament. 

On the other hand, the United States of America will be entering the game against Pakistan high on confidence. Ahead of the tournament they defeated Bangladesh and then started the T20 World Cup 2024 on a high note, thumping Canada to bag important points. 

United States of America won the game from the losing cause. Batter Aaron Jones played a magnificent innings and sealed the game for his team from the jaws. They would be pumped up to win and it promises to be an enthralling game between the two teams.

With Pakistan vs United States of America just around the corner, Steve Smith picked the players to watch out for. He backed Babar Azam to play a key role for the team in the game. He believes the Pakistan skipper will start the tournament on high. 

For the USA, he backed Aaron Jones to set the stage on fire. He believes that he was outstanding in the game against Canada and will be continuing his form against Pakistan. Speaking on Star Sports, he explained: 

“So we've got the player spotlight for the Pakistan versus USA game. From Pakistan, I really think Babar Azam's in the spotlight. He's a world-class player, he's looking forward to scoring some big runs in this World Cup and I think he's going to start off his tournament on a really high note. 

“For the USA, we've got Aaron James. We saw him the other night, he was absolutely outstanding and I think he's going to back that form up again against Pakistan. It's going to be a great game of cricket. I'm looking forward to watching.”
