Former Australia opener Usman Khawaja was in disbelief when he heard that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) penalised their T20 World Cup 2026 players for not performing according to expectations. Khawaja came to social media to express his disbelief and dissatisfaction over the Pakistan Cricket Board. The former cricketer said that Pakistan has turned into a drama series for him.

Pakistan National Cricket Team got eliminated from the Super 8 of the ongoing T20 World Cup, even after winning their last Super 8 match against Sri Lanka. Because of a low run rate, the Salman Ali Agha-led team was ruled out of the title contention.

Mocking PCB, the former Australian cricketer, who was born in Islamabad, Pakistan, described that sanction penalties over the cricketers are a horrible decision by the board as the players are already under pressure, an no-one walks into the ground to be defeated.

Mohsin Naqvi-led Pakistan Cricket Board is in front of some serious questions raised by the former cricketer

"Amazingly, the PCB could think that this is a good idea. Sorry, I'm laughing because I can't believe it. In what high-performance team in the entire world, let alone cricket, are players getting fined when they lose cricket games?", Khawaja raised the question to the Mohsin Naqvi-led Pakistan Cricket Board.

"They're not trying to lose cricket games. And how do you even think that makes them perform better next time? All it does is put more pressure and more stress on the players. I mean, they're under enough pressure. They're Pakistani players", Usman Khawaja further said in his reaction video.

Usman Khawaja compares Pakistan to a drama series

Khawaja directly said that it is a shame that PCB issued fines against the players who went into the event to represent the nation. He stated that to him, Pakistan is nothing but a drama, and he is waiting for the next episode.

"The whole country is watching them. I mean, even the selection in the past had put them under pressure as players. And now, on top of that, you're fining them? It's an absolute shame because I really feel for the Pakistani players. Poor Pakistani players... Every time I think Pakistan's not going to surprise me, they surprise me. It's like a drama series. I can't wait for the next episode", the 39-year-old concluded.

According to media reports, all of the members of Pakistan's T20 World Cup 2026 squad, have been fined PKR 5 million (US$ 18,000 approx.) each by the PCB following their underwhelming campaign.
