Vaibhav Suryavanshi is set to feature as India and Pakistan are set for another exciting showdown as the Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship is all set to begin in Doha, Qatar, from November 14 to 23. However, there is intense buzz on whether the controversy over the Asia Cup 2025 trophy presentation will finally come to an end.
All eyes are once again on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who continues to hold on to the Asia Cup trophy despite India being the rightful winners of the continental title.
India vs Pakistan set for another showdown in the Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship
They are still waiting for a formal presentation of the silverware. With this unresolved tension, the Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship is already under scrutiny due to Naqvi’s involvement.
The rebranded event, which was earlier known as the Emerging Asia Cup, will now be played under the name Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship.

All eight nations that participated in the main Asia Cup, including India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Oman, UAE, and Hong Kong, will feature in the upcoming Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship.
The group stage promises blockbuster clashes, with India and Pakistan once again placed in the same group. However, the Super Four round is not part of this event.
Doha gears up for 10 days of cricket fever
The five Test-playing nations: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka will field their A teams, while the other three participating teams, including UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong, will send their full-strength squads for the Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship.
This tournament will be played in the T20 format, and 15 matches in total will be played in ten days in Doha. Group A will feature India, Pakistan, Oman, and the UAE, while Group B will have Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals, and the final will take place on November 23 in Doha.
Defending champions Afghanistan will aim to retain their crown after their remarkable run in the 2024 edition, where they defeated India A in the semifinals and Sri Lanka A in the final at Al Amerat Stadium in Oman.
Last year, Tilak Varma, Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Chahar, and Prabhsimran Singh emerged as the new stars for Indian cricket.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi in focus as India’s squad set to be announced soon
For the upcoming edition of the Asian championship, India’s squad has been almost finalized, with exciting young talents like Vaibhav Suryavanshi expected to feature. The BCCI is likely to make the official announcement of India’s squad for the event in the coming days.
Additionally, another Asia Cup, but for the Under-19 teams, will take place in December. However, this tournament will be played in the 50-over format, with dates and venues to be confirmed soon.
As the Rising Stars Championship approaches, the question remains: will the trophy controversy finally be resolved, or will the Asia Cup 2025 drama be repeated in these events as well? Notably, the entire Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship will be broadcast live on Sony Sports.
