India’s mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy is currently enjoying a special phase in T20 international cricket, and his rise at the top is becoming stronger with every match.
Varun Chakravarthy has now extended his lead as the world’s number one T20I bowler and reached a new career high in the latest ICC rankings.
Varun Chakravarthy dominates ICC T20I Bowling Rankings
Chakravarthy has climbed to his career-best 818 rating points after another solid performance in India’s ongoing five-match T20I series against South Africa at home.
The mystery spinner has been extremely consistent in the ongoing T20I series so far, taking two wickets in each of the first three matches against South Africa.

His most recent outing in Dharamsala clearly showed his value to the Indian cricket team. Chakravarthy bowled four very tight overs and conceded only 11 runs while taking two important wickets. His spell helped India to win the third game by seven wickets in Dharamsala.
Varun Chakravarthy achieves a rare milestone in T20Is
With these stunning performances, Chakravarthy has created a big gap at the top of the ICC T20 Bowling Rankings. He is now 119 points ahead of the second-ranked New Zealand fast bowler, Jacob Duffy, who has 699 points.
The 34-year-old has also achieved a rare and historic milestone. Chakravarthy’s latest rating has pushed him into the top 10 for the highest rating points ever achieved by a T20I bowler, putting him among the best the format has seen. He has become the Indian bowler with the highest-ever ICC rating points in the history of T20I Cricket.
India and South Africa gains big boost in ICC T20I Rankings
Meanwhile, India received another big boost in the latest ICC T20I Rankings as several of their players made strong moves across different categories. The left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh made the biggest rise on the back of his match-winning performance against South Africa.

Arshdeep climbed four places to reach 16th position in the ICC T20I Bowling Rankings after his impressive performance in the ongoing T20I series against South Africa at home. South Africa’s Marco Jansen also made a massive jump, moving up 14 places to sit at 25th.
Lungi Ngidi followed with a rise of 11 spots to reach 44th, while Ottneil Baartman enjoyed a remarkable surge of 52 spots, climbing from outside the top 100 to 68th after his recent performances in the format.
India’s batting unit continued to shine as well. The team now has two players inside the top five of the ICC T20I Batting Rankings. Tilak Varma moved up two places to fourth overall after delivering three valuable innings against South Africa. Abhishek Sharma remains the No. 1 T20I batter.
Saim Ayub remains No.1 T20I All-Rounder
South Africa’s batters also made progress in the updated ICC T20I Batting Rankings. Aiden Markram climbed eight places to 29th, while Quinton de Kock jumped 14 spots to reach 43rd after their brilliant performances in the ongoing T20I series against India.
In the ICC T20I All-Rounder Rankings, Pakistan’s Saim Ayub continues to lead the table despite not featuring in any international matches over the past week. On the other hand, India’s Shivam Dube emerged as the biggest gainer in this category, moving up two places to 16th.
Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka entered the Top 20, while Jansen jumped to the 30th spot in the latest ICC T20I All-Rounder Rankings.
