Chakravarthy was given the opportunity to play for India in their last league game. However, the mystery spinner grabbed the chance with both hands and came up with his best performance in what was the second ODI of his career.

Chakravarthy picked a magnificent fifer as New Zealand National Cricket Team batters looked clueless against him. He helped India bundle out the opposition for 205 to win the game by 44 runs.

They don't feel that I don't bowl all the variations, but I do bowl all the variations - Varun Chakravarthy

Varun Chakravarthy, after the match, was asked about his bond with Ravichandran Ashwin. He said that he has had conversations with the senior spinner during TNPL. While calling CSK player his well-wisher, he said:

"For the first question, yes, I've spoken to him (Ashwin) during our TNPL times. I play for his team. I do have some conversations with him at those times. And yeah, he's been a well-wisher for me," he told reporters.

Chakravarthy was also asked about Rohit Sharma's comments on him. The India skipper had said that the mystery spinner doesn't show his variations to batters in the nets. Replying to this, he said:

"But in T20, I build my over differently. The way of sequencing different balls is different. And in ODI, it is different. So that's why they don't feel that I don't bowl all the variations, but I do bowl all the variations."

I was a little nervous - Varun Chakravarthy

Varun Chakravarthy admitted that he was nervous at the start as he got flashbacks from the last time in Dubai. The spinner added that senior players in Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Hardik Pandya kept calming him down, and that helped him.

"And yeah, of course, the first spell of mine, I was a little nervous because the previous things, the emotions, and all were playing whatever happened in the last three years before in this ground. Where little bit it was playing with me and I was trying to keep it down, control it. But Virat bhai, Rohit and even Hardik, they were telling calm down, calm down. They were coming and talking to me. That really helped,"
