The comparisons between Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli have reignited after the current Indian captain’s spat with the England opener Zak Crawley on Day 3 of the ongoing third Test at Lord’s. Tensions rose at the end of Day 3 at Lord’s as Zak Crawley was trying to waste time in the final over.
The England opener kept stepping away from the crease, clearly trying to eat up the time and avoid giving India another over before stumps on Day 3 of the ongoing third Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test. This did not go down well with Shubman Gill, who walked up to Crawley’s face.

Soon, the rest of the Indian team joined in, showing their frustration. Things heated up even more when Crawley was hit on the gloves by the fifth ball of the over. He immediately called for the physio, taking a timeout that many felt was just another delay tactic, and the Indian camp mocked him by throwing the “X” as he suggested for the “impact player” to the hosts.

After Gill’s sarcastic gesture, the Indian players began clapping and laughing, adding to the drama as Crawley and Gill exchanged a few heated words. It was a tense and theatrical finish to the day, but on social media, some fans of Virat Kohli were trying to mock the young Indian captain.
Many fans lauded Gill’s aggressive side, comparing it with Virat Kohli’s during his tenure as the Indian captain, while some even called the current skipper a student of the former Test legend. However, several fans slammed Gill for trying to act like Kohli and for unnecessary drama at Lord’s.
Here's how Virat Kohli Fans trolled Shubman Gill:
everyone have their own nature i think shubhman should not copy virat and just stay natural how he actually is if he does not have aggressive mindset then he should not show unnessecary aggression, eveyone cant be virat, aggression used to work for him but cant be with others

Gill is trying so hard to be next Kohli but he is showing unnecessary aggression and being disrespectful towards opponents

Crawley did nothing wrong there as any batsman would have tried to not play the second over in that situation #INDvsEND pic.twitter.com/BGtX6MMp3D
Some fans are trolling Gill for copying Kohli. However, the Indian captain’s fans were quick to notice the unnecessary troll, and they hit back at Kohli’s fans while hailing Gill for expressing his natural flair. The drama is expected to continue on Day 4 in the Lord's Test between India and England.

Shubman's aggression is of Virat Kohli and how he remains calm in tough situation of the match is like Rohit Sharma. He is a mix of both.
England. Be aware. Very very aware.… pic.twitter.com/zITv1wPTYs

Meanwhile, former England batter Jonathan Trott has taken a dig at Shubman Gill for his fiery reaction on Day 3 at Lord’s. Trott felt that Gill went a bit too far when he charged towards Crawley in frustration over England’s time-wasting tactics.
Without naming anyone directly, Trott made a subtle comparison between Gill and a "previous Indian captain," clearly hinting at Virat Kohli. Kohli was known for his fiery personality and never backing down from a face-off with the opposition, and Gill’s outburst reminded Trott of the latter.
