As per the latest reports from RevSportz reporter Rohit Juglan, Virat Kohli, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) veteran, has usurped a contract that was destined to be signed, citing the IPL 2026. This has raised some concerns over his plan with the RCB franchise.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore veteran has starred in the IPL and has been an unbreakable part of the franchise since the inauguration of the IPL back in 2008. Having starred in all seasons, Kohli ended his trophy drought in IPL 2025.

He holds the unique records of having scored 8000+ runs in the IPL and being the batter with the most orange caps throughout his career. Kohli's record of 900+ runs in IPL 2016 remains the most runs scored by any batter in a single edition of the IPL.

Virat Kohli dismisses renewal of contract ahead of IPL 2026

Virat Kohli is likely to make a return to the field in the India tour of Australia 3-match ODI series; however, the last time he was spotted with the willow was back in IPL 2025, where he ended as the third-highest run-getter in the competition playing for the Royal Challengers that season.

"Last time before the mega-auction, I got the lead that before the start of the next season of the IPL (that is in 2026), Virat Kohli would have to renew a contract in association with a brand. But the news is, he has not renewed his contract. Now the speculation is that Virat wants the RCB franchise to plan their way ahead without using his face," reported Rohit Juglan.

As Juglan reports, he suggests that nothing can be ascertained before any top official confirms such claims; however, as things are in the making, the probability lies with Virat Kohli planning his exit from the IPl within a few upcoming seasons. He has kept himself away from the spotlight ever since his Test retirement.

"Even last year, ahead of the mega-auction, when he was offered captaincy of the RCB side, he did not show interest in it and rather pined for Rajat Patidar and backed him with utter confidence," he added in his report.

'Virat won't act like MS Dhoni.’ RevSportz reporter drops a major update

While referring to Virat Kohli's limited stay with RCB post his IPL retirement, he has also drawn a comparison with the former Indian skipper and CSK veteran MS Dhoni, who continues to play in the Indian Premier League, despite having retired from international cricket back in 2020.

"Virat won't act like Mahendra Singh Dhoni. I am not criticizng Dhoni; I just mean that, like, MS Dhoni retired from T20 internationals in 2020 and is still continuing with the IPL in 2025 and is expected to play in 2026 as well. Virat Kohli is not likely to continue so long once he retires from One-Days for the national side," said Juglan from his YouTube channel.

"This is the reason he snubbed such a big contract with the brand, and it can be understood that Virat would slowly be seen distancing himself from the RCB franchise. He will not be joining some other franchise; maybe he will not be seen playing any further in the IPL," he concluded.

Virat Kohli to play Vijay Hazare Trophy after 15 years

While Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been picked in the Indian squad for the upcoming white-ball ODI tour to Australia, they have reportedly been asked to feature in the Indian domestic One-Day tournament, the Vijay-Hazare Trophy, by the national selector Ajit Agarkar.

Giving in to Agarkar's demands, it was reported by PTI sources that both the veterans have agreed to play the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy for their respective State teams, that is, Rohit for Mumbai and Kohli for the Delhi side. However, any official confirmation is awaited until India concludes the South Africa series.
