‘Virat Kohli Is My Inspiration’- Shreyanka Patil After Stunning Bowling Show In WCPL 2023

Shreyanka Patil grabbed the limelight after her stunning bowling show in the Women’s Caribbean Premier League 2023 (WCPL 2023). The right-arm spinner said that Virat Kohli has inspired her in many ways both on and off the field.

Shreyanka Patil has not played for the India Women’s team so far. However, she has already grabbed the limelight after emerging as the highest wicket-taker in the recently concluded Women’s Caribbean Premier League 2023.

The right-arm spinner was a member of Guyana Amazon Warriors in the tournament. In 5 games, she hunted 9 wickets at an average of 11.67 to finish as the top wicket-taker in the tournament.

Virat Kohli Has Been My Inspiration From Day One: Shreyanka Patil

During an interview with Times Of India, Shreyanka Patil said that Virat Kohli has been her inspiration since she started playing cricket. The 21-year-old also added that she admires Kohli’s aggression on the field and the energy he creates on and off the field.

“Virat Kohli has been my inspiration from day one since I started playing cricket. He’s the main reason why I picked up the sport. It’s just the vibe that he creates wherever he is. So that is something very special; it’s just not the cricket bits. I kind of see everything and then, the aggression on the field is something which I really admire”.

“So Virat Kohli has inspired me in many ways, be it in cricket and off the field. So it’s something really nice for me to watch him play. Because I started cricket watching him play. So it’s just the energy he creates on and off the field. So it’s so nice to see him. I want to become like him,” the right-arm spinner said.

Shreyanka Patil also mentioned that Virat Kohli’s never-say-die attitude inspired her a lot.

“The way he turns the match, even though he carries a few stitches on his hands, he makes sure he finishes the game. So that is something to take away. Do not give up. Always that never-say-die attitude. Never give up and finish the game. So that inspired me a lot”, the 21-year-old further added.

Shreyanka Patil became the first Indian woman player to be picked in WCPL when he was picked by Guyana Amazon Warriors in the 2022 season. This season, her team lost the final to Barbados Royals by 8 runs.

However, Shreyanka Patil impressed with his wonderful bowling show in the tournament and must have grabbed the eyeballs of selectors. She might make her debut for India Women team in the near future. Patil was also part of RCB Women in the Women’s Premier League 2023 (WPL 2023).
