The star Australia National Cricket Team all-rounder Cameron Green has made a massive revelation on the heroics of the India National Cricket Team batting great Virat Kohli in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
Kohli won the orange cap in the IPL 2024 as he finished with 741 runs in 15 matches at an average of 61.75 and a strike rate of 154.69, with one century and five fifties.
Virat Kohli batted exceptionally well for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) throughout the season and played a key role in the team making it to the playoffs after an awful first half of the competition.
Ahead of the start of IPL 2024, Virat Kohli's strike rate was a major point of discussion with many raising questions over his selection in the squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, which was just after IPL.
Virat Kohli answered his critics by smashing 316 runs in the first 5 matches at an average of 105.33 and a strike rate of 146.3, which was on a slightly lower side. However, he decided to change his approach in the next half of the competition and improved his strike rate to 161.6, smashing bowlers from the word go.
Now, Virat Kohli's RCB teammate Cameron Green has revealed that the change in the former captain's approach came after a conversation with the team management.
To be able to just ‘turn it on’ after a conversation is ridiculous - Cameron Green on Virat Kohli
Speaking on the LiSTNR Sport Youtube Channel, Cameron Green revealed that Kohli scored a truckload of runs in the first half of IPL 2024 but not at a strike rate RCB were expecting.
He added that the modern-day had a conversation with the team management and showcased a remarkable turnaround in his approach and strike rate.
“I think the first half of the tournament he was scoring a truckload of runs but probably not at the strike rate we were hoping for,” Cameron Green said, speaking on the podcast.
“And then he was so happy to change it up and be the man to take the bowlers on from ball one. He then had an unbelievable, outstanding end to the tournament. To be able to just ‘turn it on’ after a conversation is ridiculous.”
Cameron Green further said that watching the India batter in the nets is tough because of the elite perfection he has.
“Just watching Virat, how perfect he is, can get tough. You’re like ‘Gosh, I just want to do the same. He just makes everything look so easy’,” Green said.
The Australian all-rounder also revealed that he asked Virat Kohli a few questions during his RCB stint but didn't try to bombard him.
“I’ve asked him a few questions. At the same time, he’s quite a bit different to me, especially size-wise. I can’t skip down the wicket and smack it like he can,” Green said.
“But there are definitely a few things you can take away, how he goes about it. What was very impressive is how he is still trying to learn.
“I didn’t try to bombard him and tried to give him as much space as I could. I kind of understand, to a very less extent obviously, what he goes through. But I was grateful for the energy he gave me.”
Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, after an unbelievable turnaround, managed to qualify for the playoffs of IPL 2024, but they faced a 4-wicket loss against Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator, and their title drought continued.
