Virat Kohli will be leading India in the upcoming T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Kohli will be hungry to win the prestigious title more than ever as this would be his last stint as India’s leader in the shortest format.

Last month Kohli took to his official Twitter handle to announce that he would be stepping from India’s captaincy role after the completion of the mega event in November.

Kohli mentioned that his decision to give up the T20I captaincy was to manage hus workload further and he would continue leading India in Test and ODI formats.

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan said that the Indian skipper will be enjoying the game after taking the decision.

“I think he will enjoy his cricket more now after taking this decision,” Pathan told news agency AFP.

“India will do well with the side, the confidence and the experience they have.”

West Indies will be one of the favourites to win ICC T20 World Cup 2021: Irfan Pathan

India were knocked out of the 2016 T20 World Cup semi-finals by then eventual winners West Indies.

Daren Sammy and his men defeated England in the final after Carlos Brathwaite smashed four sixes in a row off Ben Stokes’ bowling in the final over as West Indies clinched their second T20 World Cup title.

Pathan reckoned that Kieron Pollard & co will be the favourites to defend theit title and also mentioned that Pakistan will be another contender to win the showpiece event.

“I always want India to win, but West Indies will be one of the favourites,” Pathan said.

“England and Australia all have good attacks, and you can never count out Pakistan. It will be a very, very competitive World Cup, ” he added.

India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in their first match of the T20 World Cup on October 24 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
