Legendary Pacer Wasim Akram was one of the finest Cricketers that Pakistan Cricket produced. In his 18-year-long career, he had taken 414 Wickets in 104 Test Matches. He was quite disciplined with the ball and hardly gave any freebies to the batters.  He had taken 25 five-wicket hauls in his career.

Wasim Akram was quite lethal in the ODI format too. The pacer had taken 502 wickets in 356 matches where he took 6 five-wicket hauls. The biggest highlight of his career was the 1992 Cricket World Cup where he was the man of the match in the final. Akram was quite a decent batter too and he could provide some handy runs at the back end of the innings.

Wasim Akram on his Post Career

The Former Pacer made some interesting remarks in his book Sultan: A memoir. “I liked to indulge myself; I liked to party. The culture of fame in south Asia is all consuming, seductive and corrupting. You can go to ten parties a night, and some do. And it took its toll on me. My devices turned into vices.” he said.

“Worst of all, I developed a dependence on cocaine. It started innocuously enough when I was offered a line at a party in England; my use grew steadily more serious, to the point that I felt I needed it to function.” he added

Pakistan in Deep Trouble

The Men in Green now are on the brink of getting eliminated. The team failed in the crunch moments of the match which cost them. Pakistani fans would be hoping that the team wins the remaining 3 matches and gives them an outside chance of making it to Semi Finals.

All the eyes would be on the skipper Babar Azam who hasn’t scored significantly. It would be interesting to see whether Babar makes any changes to the playing 11 as there are chances that Fakhar Zaman may play as earlier he was not fit.
