The Jammu and Kashmir cricket team is on fire with the ball, as Ajinkya Rahane-led Mumbai lost seven wickets for just 101 runs on Day 2 of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 clash at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC in Mumbai on Friday (January 24).

Jammu and Kashmir bowlers have been the highlights of this match so far. However, Rohit Sharma’s outburst against the bowlers for a couple of overs and ball change drama shifted the spotlight to the Indian skipper for a little time at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC.

But yet again, Jammu and Kashmir bowlers wreaked havoc on Mumbai’s batting line-up, but it was their captain Paras Dogra’s incredible fielding that impressed one and all, and even the X handle of the BCCI Domestic shared the clip of his marvelous efforts.

On the first delivery of the 27th over, Jammu and Kashmir pacer Umar Nazir Mir delivered a full ball outside the off stump. Ajinkya Rahane tried to drive the ball but ended up playing an aerial shot between mid-off and cover. Paras Dogra, who was positioned at mid-off, quickly ran to his left and made an impressive full stretch to catch the ball, staying in mid-air.

The Jammu and Kashmir captain managed to pull off a superb one-handed catch to ensure the former Indian Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane's exit for just 16 runs off 36 balls in the ongoing Ranji clash between Mumbai and Jammu & Kashmir at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC.

Interestingly, Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed by Umar Nazir Mir in the first innings as well. The Mumbai captain had contributed just 12 runs off 17 balls, featuring two boundaries, in his team's meager total of 120 runs in the first innings against Jammu & Kashmir at the BKC stadium.

Meanwhile, Jammu & Kashmir last defeated Mumbai in 2014, and it looks like history might repeat itself in this Ranji Trophy 2024-25. The defending champions are in big trouble, struggling at 101/7 with a lead in their second innings against Jammu & Kashmir in Mumbai.

Earlier, Yashasvi Jaiswal (26) and Rohit Sharma (28) gave Mumbai a strong start with a 54-run partnership for the opening wicket. But once both openers were out, Jammu & Kashmir bowlers quickly took down Mumbai's middle order, losing four quick wickets for just 44 runs.

Mumbai wicketkeeper Hardik Tamore made only 8 runs in the ongoing Ranji clash in Mumbai. Shreyas Iyer scored 12 and 17, while Shivam Dube was dismissed for a duck in both innings against Jammu & Kashmir. On the other hand, Shams Mulani made only 4 runs across the innings in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 clash.

Notably, Yashasvi and Rohit contributed 30 and 31 runs, respectively, in both innings in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 game between Mumbai and Jammu & Kashmir at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC. For J&K, Auqib Javed snared three wickets while Umar Nazir Mir and Yudhvir Singh each scalped two wickets in the second innings against Mumbai so far.
