Axar Patel has brought India back into the game in the ongoing first Test against England. The Day 3 of the match between the teams is taking place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad and the game has kept many excited.

Ollie Pope and Ben Foakes put India under immense pressure and were going guns. The duo played magnificently well and India seemed to have no answers to the carnage by them. They added over 100 runs for the partnership and made sure England got past the 80-run lead.

Things were slowly moving out of India’s hand but Axar Patel brought them back in the game as he removed Ben Foakes. The all-rounder broke the massive 112 runs partnership between the batters in the 67th over as he castled the stumps of the England keeper-batter to provide his team breakthrough.

Axar Patel bowled a quicker delivery through the air. It was a slider and the ball stayed low. Ben Foakes had no chance on the dab as he tried to creep under the attempted cut. The ball went below his bat and crashed into the off-stump to give India a timely breakthrough.

Ben Foakes looked pretty solid at the crease as he tackled the spin bowling very well and also hit timely boundaries. He ended with an innings of 34 runs off 81 balls and also slammed two boundaries in his innings, in conditions which have been difficult to bat.

The wicket was extremely important for Axar Patel as well. The all-rounder hasn’t been at his best with the ball in the second innings. The scalp of Ben Foakes surely would’ve helped him to boost his confidence. He would be hoping to take more wickets and help his team bundle out the opposition as early as possible.

Axar Patel was sensational with the ball in the first innings. He bowled impeccable lines and lengths and troubled the England batters. He picked two wickets and removed Jonny Bairstow with the screamer and helped his team bundle out the opposition for just 246 runs.

Axar Patel ended with 44 runs off 100 runs. He also slammed 7 fours and 1 six in his innings. The all-rounder was very solid at the crease but fell short of partners in the end. He perished to Rehan Ahmed, who castled his stumps. His knock helped India take a first-innings lead of 190 runs. He was also involved in a crucial partnership with Ravindra Jadeja (87).
