Team India all-rounder Axar Patel took young left-arm spinner Manav Suthar to the cleaners in the ongoing match between India C and India D in the Duleep Trophy 2024. Axar Patel smashed a half-century after his team collapsed against the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led team in the domestic red-ball game.

Ruturaj Gaikwad opted to bowl first after winning the toss at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur on Thursday, September 05. The decision proved lucky for his team against the Shreyas Iyer-led side. Anshul Kamboj dismissed Atharva Taide on the fifth ball of the opening over.

Karnataka pacer Vijaykumar Vyshak dismissed Shreyas Iyer (9) and Devdutt Padikkal (0) for low scores. Anshul Kamboj picked up his second wicket by dismissing Yash Dubey, who scored 10 runs off 12 deliveries. Himanshu Chauhan took his first wicket of the match by removing Ricky Bhui for 4 runs.

Axar Patel came to the crease when the team was struggling at 34-5. Wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat was dismissed for 13 runs off 42 balls by Manav Suthar.

The India D team collapsed to 48/6 after Bharat's wicket. Axar showed resistance with the bat despite wickets falling at the other end.

The left-handed batter smashed Manav Suthar for two sixes and a four in the 39th over of the India D team's first innings. Axar reached the half-century milestone during the same over. The left-arm spinner conceded four runs through byes on the second ball and finished the over with 21 runs.

Axar Patel was the last batter to be dismissed in India D's 1st innings of the ongoing match. The southpaw scored 86 runs off 118 balls, including six boundaries and as many sixes. The Shreyas Iyer-led team managed to score 164 runs in 48.3 overs against the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side.

Vijaykumar Vyshak was the standout bowler for India C. Vijaykumar took three wickets for 19 runs. Axar was the only performer for India D, with no other batter scoring more than 15 runs.

The 30-year-old has scored 2,447 runs in 56 First-Class matches at an average of over 35. He has recorded 19 fifties and one century in First-Class cricket. He has scored 646 runs for Team India in Test matches, with an average of 35.88.
