Delhi Capitals have suffered an injury scare as their captain and star all-rounder Axar Patel seemed to twist his ankle in the ongoing IPL 2025 clash against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The scary incident unfolded in the 16th over of DC’s innings against GT.
On the third ball of the 16th over, Gujarat Titans pacer Arshad Khan delivered a short ball to Axar Patel, who quickly pulled it towards deep square leg for a single. However, Axar seemed to have twisted his ankle while sprinting between the wickets, immediately wincing in pain.

The physio rushed onto the field to assess the situation, and the Delhi Capitals captain’s ankle was quickly taped. With the tension rising, fans and the team can only hope it's nothing serious as Axar was seen limping, but continued batting before getting dismissed by Prasidh Krishna.

The DC captain charged down the wicket for a big shot but got an outside edge, and Jos Buttler made no mistake behind the stumps, taking a clean catch to send Patel back to the pavilion for 39 runs off 32 balls, including two boundaries and one six against the Titans in Ahmedabad.
Delhi Capitals repeat rare IPL feat after 3 years
Well, Delhi Capitals managed to breach the 200-run mark in the 35th IPL 2025 match against Gujarat Titans, thanks to collective contributions from Karun Nair (31), KL Rahul (28), Axar (39), Tristan Stubbs (31), and Ashutosh Sharma (37) at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
For the second time in IPL history, Delhi Capitals have crossed the 200-run mark without any batter scoring a fifty. They did the same back in 2022, when they posted 207/8 against Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai.
Prasidh Krishna starred with the ball, taking four wickets in four overs while conceding 41 runs against the Titans. Apart from Rashid Khan, all GT bowlers Mohammed Siraj, Arshad Khan, Ishant Sharma, and Sai Kishore managed to get one wicket against DC.
I backed my yorker today, and it came out well: Prasidh Krishna on his stunning bowling performance
After shining with the ball, Krishna said that the pitch was good for the batting, making it tough for the bowlers to put the batters under pressure, and the sloppy fielding didn’t help them. He focused on hitting the right lengths and using yorkers, which worked well.
Prasidh Krishna said during the innings break, as quoted by Cricbuzz, “The wicket was nice to bat on. The pace of the wicket was very easy for the batter to get used to. It was tough for us to turn up as bowlers. Fielding didn't really help in those conditions. We have restricted them to a decent score. Looking to hit the length. Tried to use the pitch a little more. Worked out for me today. Anything in length was going for runs. I backed my yorker today, and it came out well.”
He said that the heat made it even harder to handle the pressure. Krishna praised Sai Kishore for his strong bowling and credited Ishant Sharma for bowling tight and controlling the runs.
Prasidh signed off by saying, “It was really, really hot. The intensity and pressure in a game are very hard to handle in such conditions. Sai finished off really well. Credit to Ishant. He bowled dots and kept the lid on the runs.”
