Axar Patel stuns everyone with an unreal save

Delhi Capitals (DC) won the toss and chose to bowl first in the match as skipper Axar Patel expressed confidence in his team's ability to chase down any score.

The DC bowling unit did a good job and restricted Mumbai Indians to a decent total of 205/5 with Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam being the top performers as they bagged two wickets each.

Axar, meanwhile, bowled just 2 overs and conceded 19 runs at an economy of 9.50 while going wicketless. The reason behind Axar not completing his quota of overs might be the finger injury that he is dealing with.

Axar might not be 100% fit, but he always makes sure to give his 200% on the field for his team. An incredible fielding effort was displayed by Axar in the 18th over of the innings.

On the fourth ball of the over, Mitchell Starc bowled a length delivery to Naman Dhir, who smashed it towards long-off, where Axar timed his jump to perfection and grabbed the ball.

And as he came to know he was not in complete control and might go past the boundary, he threw the ball inside the ropes. Although he was unable to grab the catch, he certainly saved crucial runs for his team.

He’s made all the youngsters feel comfortable - Ashutosh Sharma

Speaking ahead of the match, Delhi Capitals (DC) star batsman Ashutosh Sharma lauded Axar Patel's captaincy, saying that he makes the youngsters feel comfortable and has created a positive environment.

"As for Axar bhai’s captaincy—he’s been leading really well. He’s made all the youngsters feel comfortable. We can talk to him about anything, and he's created a very positive environment,” Ashutosh said in the pre-match press conference.

While talking about his batting, Ashutosh Sharma said that he has a lot of self-belief and tries to keep things simple.

"Honestly, I don’t focus too much on results. I believe in my abilities and always concentrate on the process. I don’t think about winning or losing after a match. I just stay focused on the process, which helps keep things simple and reduces pressure.

"I try not to overthink. Like I said, I keep things simple. Last year went well, and this year I’ve worked even harder. I’ve played more domestic cricket and focused on areas I couldn’t improve last year. Playing consistently at No. 6 or 7 for six years has taught me a lot—when to play certain shots, how to approach bowlers, how to handle situations,” Ashutosh added.
