Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was not able to repeat his first innings performance in the second innings against England and was run out for a score of 2 runs from 20 balls. On the first ball of the 39th over, Jadeja pushed the ball towards the mid-on region and took England captain Ben Stokes for a risky single run. While Stokes lost his balance while throwing the ball, his underarm flick hit the stumps, and Jadeja was well short of his ground.
Ravindra Jadeja was the highest run scorer for the Indian cricket team in the first innings and played an important innings of 86 runs, which helped India reach a total of 436 runs.
The Indian team was put on the back foot by England batsman Ollie Pope as he played a fabulous innings of 196 runs and also brought his team back into the match. Pope, who was dropped on 186 runs by Indian wicket-keeper KL Rahul, was not able to make the most of the missed chance and was not able to complete his double hundred.

Ollie Pope surpassed Pakistani opener Saeed Anwar to become the fourth batsman with the most runs by a visiting batsman in the second innings. Zimbabwean legend Andy Flower tops the list with 232* runs against India.
Getting back to the match, India are certainly in trouble on Day 4 of the first IND vs ENG Test match. India need 231 runs to win courtesy of a ton by Ollie Pope and have already lost their first seven wickets for 119 runs. India openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave the team a decent start and added 42 runs for the first wicket.
While Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for 15 runs, Indian batsman Shubman Gill also didn’t do much and walked about without troubling the scorers. KL Rahul and Axar Patel also didn’t do much and walked back after scoring 22 and 17 runs respectively. Indian captain Rohit Sharma once again failed to convert his start into a big score and had to depart after scoring 39 runs from 58 balls. Shreyas Iyer failed again and walked back after scoring 13 runs.
Debutant Tom Hartley has picked up 4 wickets so far whereas, Joe Root and Jack Leach have picked up 1 wicket each.
England now are on the verge of a famous win against India, which will certainly boost their confidence moving forward in the series. However, India still have recognized batsmen such as Ravichandran Ashwin and KS Bharat, who can take their team over the line.
England’s batting line failed considerably during the first innings and were wrapped up for 246 runs. Indian spinners picked up 8 wickets amongst themselves and broke the backbone of the English batting lineup.
After India’s strong batting display in the first innings, England were certainly on the back foot, though, it was Ollie Pope who has certainly brought his team back in the match.
