Tilak Varma dismissed for 20 in 2nd T20I

The 22-year-old left-handed batsman Tilak Varma looked terrific in the first T20I against South Africa at Kingsmead in Durban and played a sensational knock.

Tilak Varma played an attacking brand of cricket and provided great support to the centurion Sanju Samson. The youngster finished his innings with 33 runs off just 18 balls.

However, he failed to replicate that performance in the second T20I against the Proteas. While batting on the tough pitch, Tilak Varma couldn't get going and was eventually caught out by David Miller.

On the last ball of the 8th over, Aiden Markram tossed up a delivery outside off-stump, and Tilak drove it towards cover. Miller, who was stationed there stuck out his right hand and plucked the ball out of thin air.

The Proteas star hardly had any time to react, but still, he managed to grab the catch. Tilak Varma also looked shocked while seeing Miller pull off the blinder. The Indian batter was back in the hut after scoring 20 runs off 20 balls.

South Africa's batters failed in the first T20I against India

In the first T20I in Durban, the South African batting lineup couldn’t handle the pressure of a total set by India, ultimately faltering for 141 runs and falling well short of the 203-run target.

Skipper Aiden Markram opened the innings and was dismissed in the first over by Arshdeep Singh after a rapid 8 off 4 balls, hitting two crisp boundaries.

Ryan Rickelton seemed promising, with a quick-fire 21 off 11 balls, featuring three boundaries and a six. However, Varun Chakravarthy’s spin soon dismissed him, sending both openers back into the hut.

Tristan Stubbs struggled to settle, scoring just 11 runs before Avesh Khan forced an edge to Suryakumar Yadav. Heinrich Klaasen tried to stabilize the innings with 25 off 22, but his dismissal by Varun summed up the struggles of the Proteas batters.

David Miller managed just 18 runs in a sedate 22-ball stay, unable to find his usual rhythm and falling to Varun as well. He looked clueless against spinners and wasn't able to pick deliveries.

Patrick Kruger and Marco Jansen couldn't rescue the innings either, both succumbing to Ravi Bishnoi’s spin. Lower down the order, Gerald Coetzee’s 23 off 11, filled with three sixes, showed some spark, but it was too late to turn the tide. With a flurry of wickets falling, South Africa were bowled out in just 17.5 overs, losing the match by 61 runs.
