The Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2026 is set to return with another exciting season featuring eight teams battling for the title. The tournament will begin on August 4 and conclude with the final on August 28, with a total of 32 matches scheduled across two venues in Tamil Nadu.

Defending champions IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans will begin their title defence in the tournament opener against Dindigul Dragons at the NPR College Ground in Dindigul. The league stage consists of 28 matches before the competition moves into the playoffs, with all knockout games scheduled to be played at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium.

TNPL 2026 Venues

The Tamil Nadu Premier League 2026 will be played across two venues. The opening phase of the tournament, comprising the first 20 league matches, will be held at the NPR College Ground in Dindigul before the action shifts to the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, which will host the remaining league-stage matches as well as all four playoff fixtures.

NPR College Ground, Dindigul

The NPR College Ground will once again play a key role in the tournament by hosting the opening leg of TNPL 2026. In recent years, the venue has become known for producing high-scoring T20 contests, with batting conditions improving significantly. The average first-innings score climbed to 175 in 2024 and 180 in 2025, reflecting the batting-friendly nature of the surface.

Historically, teams chasing have enjoyed a slight advantage here, winning 55.1% of the T20 matches played at the venue, while sides batting first have won 42.3%. Among bowlers, leg-spinners have generally been the most economical, although pacers and finger spinners have also found success with disciplined bowling.

MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai

The second phase of TNPL 2026, including the playoffs and final, will be staged at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk) in Chennai. While the venue has traditionally assisted spin bowlers, it has also produced several competitive T20 matches.
