Salem Spartans Cricket Team (2025)

Salem Spartans are one of the eight teams participating in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). They are owned by Selvakumar and are yet to win the TNPL. The Spartans are led by S Abishiek.

Ahead of the 2021 season, inaugural TNPL winners Tuti Patriots were renamed as Salem Spartans. The team was disbanded after the BCCI initiated an action against the the owners of two of the franchises for match fixing in TNPL.

Later, the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) asked Tuti Patriots to remove two of their co-owners. As a result, the team became solely owned by Selvakumar while the other two owners moved out. The team was also renamed as Salem Spartans.

Salem Spartans - Season-wise performance:

Salem Spartans started their journey in the TNPL in 2021. In their debut season, they finished at the 7th spot in the 8-team competition. The Spartans managed to win only 2 of their 7 league games.

Salem Spartans disappointed with their performance in 2022 as well. They finished at the bottom of the points table with just 1 win from 7 games at the league stage. Salem Panthers' fortunes remained the same in 2023 as well.

For the third season in a row, they failed to qualify for the playoffs. They finished at the seventh spot in the points table with just 2 wins from 7 games.

In 2024, Salem Spartans once again failed to impress as they finished at the bottom of the points table. They managed to win only 1 of their 7 league games.
