David Warner is all set to lead Karachi Kings in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025). However, before his much-anticipated PSL debut, David Warner created a bit of drama as the Australian star first missed the captain's meeting and then left the nets in displeasure.
Only five out of six team captains attended the Pakistan Super League 2025 captains’ conference, with Karachi Kings skipper David Warner skipping the event. Multan Sultans’ Mohammad Rizwan, Lahore Qalandars’ Shaheen Afridi, Peshawar Zalmi’s Babar Azam, Islamabad United’s Shadab Khan, and Quetta Gladiators’ Saud Shakeel were all present to speak on behalf of their teams.

Karachi Kings were represented by their new vice-captain Hasan Ali. The reason behind Warner’s absence was Karachi Kings’ intra-squad practice match. Instead of attending the captain’s meeting, the swashbuckling opener decided to focus on an important intra-squad practice match.
Since the team’s training session the day before had been cancelled, Warner decided it was better to use this time to take a closer look at his squad ahead of their first game in the upcoming PSL 2025. But the Karachi Kings captain ended up meeting with only disappointment.

Tensions flared at Karachi Kings' training camp as David Warner stormed off the nets after expressing his frustration over the pitch conditions. Warner had reportedly demanded a flat track for practice ahead of the PSL 2025, but he was offered a green surface that left the captain frustrated.

Warner’s unexpected yet shocking walkout has raised eyebrows with questions swirling around team unity and preparations ahead of their Pakistan Super League 2025 opener on April 12 against Multan Sultans at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
The Karachi Kings squad featured big overseas names like Warner, James Vince, Adam Milne, Mohammad Nabi, Kane Williamson, and the New Zealand duo of Adam Milne and Tim Seifert.

Overseas stars in the Pakistan Super League 2025
Meanwhile, apart from Karachi Kings, the defending champions Islamabad United also have some strong overseas players in the roster, including Australia’s wicketkeeper Alex Carey, all-rounder Ben Dwarshuis, and West Indies pacer Jason Holder.
Lahore Qalandars will have a solid mix of international talent with New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell, Sri Lanka’s Kusal Perera, and experienced all-rounder David Wiese in their lineup for this season.
Multan Sultans, last season’s runner-up, have West Indies stars Shai Hope and Gudakesh Motie, along with New Zealand’s Michael Bracewell, in their squad for the upcoming tournament.
Peshawar Zalmi's overseas group features West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph, South Africa’s George Linde, and rising Australian cricketer Mitchell Owen.
Quetta Gladiators also have some exciting overseas stars, including Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis, New Zealand’s explosive opener Finn Allen, and South African left-hander Rilee Rossouw.
