Left-arm fast bowler Spencer Johnson clean bowled former Australia opener David Warner with a scorching yorker during the 25th match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25 season. David Warner tried to play a reverse sweep off Spencer Johnson but could not make contact with the ball, leading to his dismissal.
The Brisbane Heat won the toss and elected to bowl at The Gabba on January 6. Michael Neser returns from injury to team up with Xavier Bartlett for the Heat's bowling attack. The Sydney Thunder have made the surprise inclusion of retired Dan Christian following injuries to Cameron Bancroft and Daniel Sams.

Oliver Davies scored 10 off 12 balls, hitting one four, before being caught behind off Michael Neser. Spencer Johnson dismissed Matthew Gilkes, who scored 20 off 10, including four fours, off his second ball. Sam Billings added 10 off 8 balls, including one four, before being caught by Tom Alsop off Neser.
Sherfane Rutherford hit a six in his 11 off 9 balls. However, he was dismissed by Matt Kuhnemann. Hugh Weibgen scored 11 off 8 balls, giving Kuhnemann his second wicket. Kuhnemann finished with bowling figures of 2-32 in his four overs. The Thunder lost half of their wickets for 115 runs in 13 overs.

David Warner reached his half-century off 35 balls, which included seven fours. However, his innings ended when Spencer Johnson bowled him out with the very next delivery. Warner attempted a reverse sweep but was beaten by a full, straight yorker from Johnson. The ball hit Warner's leg stump. After his dismissal, Warner was frustrated and he slammed his bat on the turf in anger.

Spencer Johnson ended with bowling figures of 3-39. The Thunder finished with 8-173 from 20 overs after being sent in by the Heat. Dan Christian, making his return to the BBL, contributed a valuable 23 off 15 balls, including two powerful sixes. Michael Neser took two wickets for 25 runs in his four overs.
