The 2024-25 senior men's Indian domestic cricket season began with the Duleep Trophy on Thursday.
Team India wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel took a remarkable catch to dismiss Abhimanyu Easwaran during the match between India A and India B in the ongoing red-ball domestic tournament.
The Duleep Trophy will provide a vital preparatory platform for Indian cricketers ahead of the Test series.
The tournament has undergone major changes this year. Shubman Gill, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Shreyas Iyer are leading India A, India B, India C, and India D, respectively.
Abhimanyu Easwaran-led Team B is taking on Shubman Gill-captained Team A at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday, September 5.
Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad-captained Team C and Shreyas Iyer-led Team D are playing at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur.

India A captain Shubman Gill opted to bowl after winning the toss in the ongoing red ball match.
Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhimanyu Easwaran started with a cautious approach. The batting duo faced the pace attack of Khaleel Ahmed, Akash Deep, and Avesh Khan with the new ball.
Avesh Khan provided the first breakthrough for his team in the 13th over. Abhimanyu Easwaran attempted a drive well outside his off stump.
However, the batter edged the delivery towards the slip cordon. Wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel made a spectacular diving catch in front of the first slip fielder.

The early dismissal of captain Abhimanyu Easwaran was a major setback for Team B. He scored 13 off 42 deliveries before being dismissed on Day 1.
Easwaran's wicket left the team at 33-1 after the first hour. Young Musheer Khan batter came in at No. 3 to join Yashasvi Jaiswal at the crease.
The Abhimanyu Easwaran-led team scored 65 runs for the loss of two wickets in 30 overs before the lunch break on the opening day.
Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 30 runs off 59 balls, including six boundaries. Sarfaraz Khan and Musheer Khan added an unbeaten 12 runs off 54 balls before the break.
Dhruv Jurel Made His Test Debut for India Against England
Dhruv Jurel made his debut during the home Test series against England earlier this year. He got the opportunity to represent the team after KS Bharat's string of poor scores and Ishan Kishan's absence.
Jurel made the most of the opportunity and excelled with both bat and gloves in the series.
The wicketkeeper is now facing competition, with Ishan Kishan returning to red-ball cricket and Rishabh Pant expected to return to the squad.
He needs to score heavily in the ongoing tournament, with Team India scheduled to play 10 red-ball matches in the coming months at home and away.
