A new footage has surfaced showing the brutal treatment received by the Australian players when they were making their way to the dressing room for lunch on day five of the recently-concluded second Ashes Test at Lord’s.
The tense final day was engulfed in a huge controversy following Jonny Bairstow’s contentious dismissal in the first session. Tempers flared after Australia wicketkeeper Alex Carey threw down the stumps to dismiss Bairstow when the latter left his crease after ducking underneath a short ball from Cameron Green, believing the ball was dead.

With the third umpire adjudging Bairstow out, the Lord’s crowd made their displeasure clear. The Australian players were booed as they walked off the field at lunch. Usman Khawaja and David Warner were then seen confronting the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) members inside the Long Room. The staff had to intervene to bring the situation under control.
New footage shows Australia players received brutal treatment:
New footage has surfaced, showing just how furious the England supporters were at Australia after Bairstow’s dismissal. The video shows the fans welcoming the Australia players with ‘cheat’ chants as Pat Cummins & Co. climbed the ladders to the dressing room.
The footage showed one particularly English supporter pointing to each player from the Australian team and yelling ‘cheat’ at them. Another supporter was heard yelling about the infamous sandpaper scandal that rocked Australian cricket in 2018.
Following the scandal, Warner and Steve Smith were suspended for a year by Cricket Australia. The Lord’s crowd looked hostile and the hostility only increased as the players quickly walked up the stairs to their change rooms.

Meanwhile, Australia won the game by 43 runs despite Ben Stokes’ heroics to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. Chasing 371, England were all out for 327. The third Test is scheduled to be played in Leeds from Thursday (July 6).
