Jaffna Kings all-rounder Fabian Allen oozed his class with the ball in Qualifier 2 of the Lankan Premier League (LPL) 2024 against Kandy Falcons. The match between the two teams took place at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Saturday (20th July).

In what was a nail-biter, Jaffna Kings emerged victorious by just 1 run and advanced to the final of the tournament. They will now be taking on Galle Marvels in the final of the tournament on Sunday (21st July) at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

One of the major architects behind the win of Jaffna Kings was the spinner, Fabian Allen. He spun a web around the Kandy Falcons batters and helped his team get wickets at the crucial juncture of the game. He seemed to be unplayable and bowled in terrific areas.

After Jaffna Kings posted a total of 187 runs on the board, the Kandy Falcons were having a great time with the bat. However, the introduction of Fabian Allen changed the game. The Caribbean bowler right from the start looked threatening as he understood the conditions pretty well and spun the ball big time.

Fabian Allen removed Dinesh Chandimal, Andre Fletcher, Angelo Mathews, and Dasun Shanaka. He clean-bowled all the batters as he looked too good for them. The spinner picked a four-wicket haul in an important game and returned with the figures of 4/24 in his quota of 4 overs.

What caught the attention of many was his celebrations after each wicket. Fabian Allen came up with hilarious celebrations and entertained the crowd. He pulled up dance celebrations along with one limping celebration after grabbing wickets.

Here's the video:

After Fabian Allen's spell, Jaffna Kings bowled well but Kandy Falcons batters too didn't give up. The match went down to the last over with 17 runs needed. Jaffna bowler Asitha Fernando although got hit for runs held his nerves to help his team win the game by just 1 run.

It's a great feeling to play the final - Jaffna Kings skipper Charith Asalanka

Jaffna Kings skipper Charith Asalanka opened up about the nail-biting win over Kandy Falcons and said that although they won the game but important game is yet to be played. He lauded his bowlers for their effort and revealed he would be having a conversation with the coach related to combination for the final. He elaborated:

"It's a great feeling to play the final, but tomorrow is the most important game of the tournament. I thought 188 was a very good score, but they came hard at us, it was a tricky match and I think the bowlers came up well. I'll chat with the coach regarding the team combination for tomorrow's match," he concluded.

Jaffna Kings would be hoping to produce a similar kind of performance in the final and lift the trophy on Sunday in Colombo.
