India women's cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur gave a sharp response to a journalist who questioned the lack of coverage for women's cricket in India. Harmanpreet Kaur stated that it’s none of her business ahead of the highly anticipated clash against Pakistan in the Women's Asia Cup T20 2024.

India will start their title defense in the Women's Asia Cup T20 2024 against Pakistan, led by Nida Dar, in Dambulla on Friday, July 19. The Women in Blue are placed in Group A with Pakistan, Nepal, and the UAE. This year's tournament will be played in T20 format in preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

India is the most successful team in the Women's Asia Cup, having won the title seven times. The Bangladesh team is the only other team to secure the title, having triumphed in the 2018 edition. The Women in Blue have won three out of four times in the T20 Asia Cup and secured all four editions in the 50-over format.

You Guys Have To Come And Cover Us - Harmanpreet Kaur

During the pre-tournament press conference, Harmanpreet Kaur answered questions from reporters. A reporter asked for her opinion on why fewer journalists attended press conferences during India's recent tour of Bangladesh. Kaur replied that it was not her concern but the media's responsibility to cover the team.

"There have been concerns about the importance of women's cricket, especially after the Bangladesh tour. Less journalists appeared at your press conferences. What's your opinion on this?" the reporter asked.

"Well, that's none of my business. You guys have to come and cover us," Harmanpreet replied with a smile.

The Indian women's cricket team recently played a multi-format series against South Africa. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led team won the one-off Test and the three-match ODI series 3-0 against the South African women's cricket team. However, the home team managed to draw the three-match T20I series 1-1.

We Always Want To Play Good Cricket - Harmanpreet Kaur

Ahead of the Women's Asia Cup T20 clash against Pakistan, Harmanpreet Kaur highlighted that matches against Pakistan are particularly exciting, but the team respects every opponent and aims to maintain their high standards of play.

"We always enjoy playing against Pakistan but each and every team is important. Whenever we go and play, we always want to play good cricket, and we will follow the same method,” Kaur said at the press conference

“This tournament is very important for all of us because we give equal respect to this tournament and want to improve at the Asian as well as at the world level,” she added.

India and Pakistan have faced each other 14 times in T20Is, with India winning 11 of those matches. India has won 17 out of 20 matches in the Women's Asia Cup T20. Under Harmanpreet Kaur's leadership, Team India aims to commence their campaign with a victory over Pakistan in their first match in Group A.
