The third day of the ongoing first India vs Bangladesh Test in Chennai ended prematurely due to bad light. More than 9 overs were left to be bowled when the umpires asked the players to walk off as the light was not enough for any action to take place.

In some cases, the umpires allow the game to take place but do not allow the pacers to operate at that time due to visibility issues. Earlier this month, England pacer Chris Woakes was forced to bowl spin mid-over due to bat light during the Oval Test against Sri Lanka.

The situation was similar in Chennai too as Mohammed Siraj had already started his fourth over when the umpires stopped the game due to bad light. After stopping the game, umpire Rod Tucker took out his light meter to check the visibility.

He was then joined by his colleague Richard Kettleborough. Both the umpires had a brief chat before deciding that the light was not enough for the game to take place any further. As the umpires asked the players to leave the field, India captain Rohit Sharma asked them if he could use spinners.

And as the umpires and Rohit Sharma were discussing, Mohammed Siraj came up with a hilarious proposal. After Rohit asked the umpires about using spinners, Mohammed Siraj started practicing spin bowling. The pacer then asked his captain if he could bowl spin.

The umpires then gave Rohit the option to continue with spin but the India skipper turned down the proposal by hilariously saying, 'he (Siraj) can't bowl spin'. Rohit's remark left his teammates and the umpires in splits as they walked off the field.

Meanwhile, India are in the driver's seat in the game and will be looking to wrap it up on Sunday (September 21). Chasing an improbable total of 515 runs, Bangladesh ended day three on 158 for 4 with their skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto (51) and Shakib Al Hasan (5) unbeaten at the crease.

Earlier in the day, centuries from Rishabh Pant (109) and Shubman Gill (119*) helped India declare their second innings on 287/4.
