Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde hosted a felicitation event for Mumbai cricketers who were part of India's T20 World Cup 2024 team on Friday, July 5. Eknath Shinde honored Rohit Sharma and three other members of India's T20 World Cup team for their contributions to victory in the ICC tournament.

The Rohit Sharma-led team secured the T20 World Cup after a 17-year gap. The Men in Blue defeated South Africa by 7 runs in a thrilling final game in Barbados on Saturday, June 29. Team India had to postpone their travel due to poor weather conditions, but BCCI secretary Jay Shah organized a private flight.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met Mumbai cricketers from the World Cup-winning team at his official residence, 'Varsha' in South Mumbai. The Chief Minister honored Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube, and Suryakumar Yadav. Shinde presented them with mementos during the event.

Bowling coach Paras Mhambrey was also present at the event. Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shivam Dube represent Mumbai in domestic cricket. Rohit and Suryakumar, Shivam Dube are Mumbai natives, while Yashasvi Jaiswal hails from Uttar Pradesh but later moved to Mumbai.

The World Cup-winning team met Prime Minister Narendra Modi upon their return to India after their historic victory in the recent ICC T20 tournament. They were honored by the BCCI following a celebratory parade from the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) to the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Fans gathered in large numbers at Marine Drive to catch a glimpse of their favorite players celebrating the T20 World Cup 2024 victory. The Indian cricketers celebrated with enthusiasm, taking a victory lap around Wankhede Stadium. They have cherished every moment since clinching the championship.

Rohit Sharma Is A Down To Earth Person - Eknath Shinde

CM Eknath Shinde stated that he welcomed Team India yesterday. Shinde expressed pride in Rohit Sharma, describing him as a down-to-earth person. He emphasized that young talents need a platform, noting Sharma's role in fostering opportunities.

"I welcomed Team India yesterday. Today, Rohit Sharma came here, I thank him for it. We are proud that he is a World Cup-winning player, and also that he is from Mumbai. He is a down-to-earth person. I welcome all our players. We saw a sea of people had emerged in Mumbai yesterday. Our youngsters need a platform and Rohit Sharma will provide it to them. The government will provide all help to them," Eknath Shinde said.

Rohit Sharma concluded the tournament with 257 runs in eight matches at an average of 36.71 and a strike rate of over 156. He smashed three fifties with a best score of 92 against Australia. With two T20 World Cup titles under his belt, including one from 2007, Rohit announced his T20I retirement on a high note.
