Australia's Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins was sledged by an Indian fan after his team's defeat in the last Super 8 game against India played at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St. Lucia.

The incident happened when Pat Cummins was going back to the dressing room after losing the game. The fast bowler finished on 11 off 7 balls but couldn't take Australia close to victory.

The fan was pumped up after India's thrilling win over the ODI World Cup champions. While speaking from the stands, he called India's win a revenge of the 2023 ODI World Cup final.

"Hey Pat! That's for 2023, that's revenge for 2023, remember Ahmedabad? And you going home tomorrow?" the fan sledged Cummins from the stands.

Last year, India lost a heart-breaking match to Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023 final. Pat Cummins was Australia's captain in the tournament.

India produces a complete performance to defeat Australia

Meanwhile, talking about the match, India produced a complete performance as they dismantled Australia's challenge. Australia came into the match knowing they had to win the game to have a chance to qualify for the semi-finals.

But they couldn't hold the might of India as the Men in Blue were a better team on the day. Despite Virat Kohli registering another low score this season, India's captain Rohit Sharma led from the front and smashed a blistering 92 off just 41 balls to give his team a flying start.

Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, and Hardik Pandya also chipped in with crucial contributions in the middle order as India scored 205-5 in 20 overs. While all of Australia's bowlers went for over 40 runs on the day, Josh Hazlewood was excellent with his spell of 1-14 in four overs.

Chasing a mammoth target to win, Australia's top order batters Travis Head and skipper Mitchell Marsh looked like taking the game away from India despite David Warner getting dismissed early. Marsh was caught by Axar Patel brilliantly on the boundary and it proved to be a game-changing moment as Indian bowlers started chipping away.

Despite Glenn Maxwell providing some resistance with the bat, Australia never got ahead of the game. When Travis Head was dismissed for a well-made 76 off 43 balls by Jasprit Bumrah, Australia's chances also took a big hit as the lower order crumbled badly.

The Aussies could reach only 181-7 as they lost the match by 24 runs. Despite losing, Australia had an outside chance of making it to the semis. But Afghanistan's narrow win over Bangladesh in the next match meant that Australia were eliminated from the Super 8 stage.

Rohit Sharma was adjudged Player of the Match for his brilliant innings. With this win, India have topped Group 1 and will face England in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024 at Providence Stadium, Guyana.
